I really liked this movie. From the bank robbery, to infiltrating the gang, to escaping and taking on the gang, the movie is really well done. The music box music is creepy, and the duel at the end is fantastic. If I was to critique it at all, I'd argue that Indio is too sadistic. I felt like his bad guy mentality was just evil for the sake of getting the audience to hate him. I wish we knew why he was such a bastard. Lee Van Cleef and Clint Eastwood were amazing together, and it only made sense that they would star in the next film. This is a great movie.

Always confused me on some level since is Lee Van Cleef the same guy in the next one or no?

Always confused me on some level since is Lee Van Cleef the same guy in the next one or no? I was confused too. After I watched the first one for the first time, I realized that Clint Eastwood is rich at the of the movie, so there isn't a reason for him to become a bounty hunter in the second movie. It turns out that each story is completely different. It really isn't a trilogy in the traditional sense, but from what I've read, UA marketed it as such, since they were made at the same time. Lee Van Cleef just kicked so much ass that they invited him back for the third one.

The films were never made with the intentions of being sequels, so the characters are not the same despite it all starring a main character with no name, however they are so beloved that people make headcanons of how they are related. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is the first one chronologically since Eastwood gets his iconic poncho at the end in this film, meaning that Lee Van Cleefs Angel Eyes character is not the same as in For a Few Dollars More.

Lee Van Cleef is quite prepared for his entrance in this movie.
