I saw this epic again a couple years ago. That scene in the cemetery so powerful. From beginning to end a masterpiece. I compare this to the great literature epic classics, but in film form.

This movie is fantastic. From the framing of the scenes, to the humor, and to the soundtrack, everything this movie does is Oscar worthy. The graveyard scene and the final standoff is always discussed, but I find that even the lesser known scenes deserve more love. I was just discussing the scene where Tuco is cheering on the Confederacy in order to fool them so he could get past their lines. I couldn't stop laughing when the Union guys showed that they had dusty uniforms, patted them off, and showed off their blue colors. Next scene? They're under arrest. Humor like that is universal, and it will be funny 100 years from now. Most modern comedies probably won't have that lasting power, and this isn't even a comedy. New comers should understand that there are nuances that must be understood, since the movie was filmed long ago, but if you can get past that, this movie is one of the greats for a reason. Everyone should see it.
