The best gangster film there ever was. It is literally the first thing people think about when they think of a mobster. Legendary in every sense.

Don Corlione is a like sociopath with a code of honour. He has no trouble flipping between moral extremes. On one hand, he adopted To Hagen and took food care of him. He also has a problem with drugs.
On the other hand, think about that poor horse!
His son and successor, Michael, is an all American good boy who starts his descent into the dark side when his father gunned down in the street for "business" reasons. Of course, when your boss is also your beloved father, it's hard for his sons or to take it personally. And by the end, you know he's going to be more ruthless than his father as he's been fully absorbed into the mob life.
The Corlione family are boisterous and polite, but not cartoonishly evil like Al Capone in The Untouchables.
This is a very brief description of part one. For me, parts two and three are currently on a mail van somewhere, so I'll watch them when they arrive.
