Volume 2 looks like the one I'll like more. However knowing me if I get the second I'll have to get the first one too. They both sound awesome, lots of cool games. Thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't know about this otherwise.

There are some weird choices here. Blackjack, Basic Math, Chess and Backgammon aren't exactly classics.

dschult3 Yes, to see how the controls handle will be interesting indeed. Balder I guess nowadays as long as they are old they are classics, which means E.T. is a big classic.

No, nobody wants to play Basic Math for fun, only for the amusement that such a game exists. It doesn't belong in a compilation pack.

Honestly if they compile every single game I wouldn't want any game to be left out.
However they can't do that for copyright issues. Otherwise you would see a compilation with the biggest AAA games in one single volume.
So I guess those games simply serve as fillers.

Then just release a single volume with just good games and no fillers.

They can make twice as much money with fillers. That's why they probably do it like that.
Also there is a chance the people making these compilations may not even know what all the hits are, and just have a vague guess of which ones are the top sellers.
Were all these published by Atari? If that's the case then it would make more sense why they have to add unpopular ones.
As long as they were part of the ones they published, they would have to add them to complete the collection.

Well, outside of Atari, Activision was the best publisher for games. Without Activision, a lot of the greats are missing from the list.

Activision had the best graphics too. They were really good at making games convincing.

Activision's programmers were originally from Atari, but they split and made their own company. They were pretty good, sad to see that they aren't too popular anymore.

They are still popular. They had always been. Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, Call Of Duty, Skylanders, a lot of licensed games, Blizzard.
What happens is that they don't appeal to our crowd anymore, with the exception of a few games like The Legend Of Korra, Transformers Devastation, Mutants In Manhattan, etc., and even then, some of those good games end up coming rushed and incomplete.

It's too bad, a lot of the Atari games I'm really interested in are from Activision. Might just have to pick up the console and some games one day.

Enduro, Fishing Derby, both Pitfalls and River Raids are some of my favorite Activision games for the 2600. Love 'em!
