What's the point in voting if all of the choices are morons? To maintain the illusion of democracy in order to placate the plebeians, in a country with the largest amount of lobbyists representing corporations that pay billions of dollars into the government every year the common citizenry is told from an early age to believe that they somehow have a say in the government that rules over them if they follow the prescripted words of various actors who speak on formalized "issues of the day" then at a specified date go to a place where they press a button or punch a dot in a piece of paper to make a symbolic choice. Then of course if this fails and the plebs become restless they are allowed to write ineffectual letters to their chosen actor, create petitions to be signed by other plebs which then get tossed in a pile, and of course gather at designated places and times to be corralled like livestock as they protest socially engineered injustices perpetuated with intent. The scope of this great system of deceptions and distractions designed to placate the general public while business as usual continues behind the scenes is truly something to behold, especially considering how it's design and refinement is based on literally thousands of years of trial and error. And so concludes my rant which will undoubtedly be labeled the ravings of a tinfoil hat wearing conspiretard as is the properly scripted dismissal as defined by the system, we now return to your regularly scheduled programming. Your words seem to be suggesting that the true "rulers" of America are those funding the presidential hopefuls, and the common citizen is nothing but a mere "pawn" in a game of chess and checkers. Time to move to North Korea, the promised land of freedom, and live the "Great North Korean Dream" Time to make North Korea Great Again!

If you could afford to pay her to attend your wedding, food prices are the last thing you would worry about, unless you are feeding your guests nothing but cavier....

To be fair, it's possible for the citizens to have a stronger participation in politics... Just not so much through voting. Organized protests, if legitimate and with enough participation of the public, can bring great changes. Fomenting broader social views through cultural products (including video games, movies, music, series etc.) is another essential way to do that, if a bit slow. As a recent example, the same-sex marriage legalization was possible through those things, not because some politician decided for it.
So, if you expect a politic change coming just from politicians themselves, then you'll be waiting for a long time. Politicians hardly represent the people's will - they are too tied to lobbyists. And this is not only just in the U.S. - most democratic western countries function like this.

Eh, I'm mexican so I must hate Trump by default but really Hillary isn't any better either. What with her whole crusade to control the rating system of games and all that jazz.
Still, I don't worry about it too much. A certain comedian once summed up the position of the US president beautifully.
Annnd it is only after I wrote this reply that I noticed that this thread has long since moved from politics. Well, crap.

He seems like a nice soft-spoken guy though.

Well, I don't worry about it too much, as I said in my post the USA president is for the most part a puppet to corporations and the interests thereof. That said if he actually wins I do worry about some executive orders that don't interfere with those aforementioned interests. Chances are the amount of bullshit I'll have to go through to get a passport and travel will most likely be tripled (Which believe me it already is a headache to do), imports will most likely have to come from Canada now which will make electronics more expensive and trading relationships in general will take a huge hit and chances are our oil-based economy will have to find a new major client pretty fast or else it will sink even faster. As a person; I don't know what to think of him, he just says everything and anything the conservatives of the country want to hear and quite frankly I don't care very much about his opinion. He strikes me as just another ignorant bureaucrat that ended up in a position of power by his heritage rather than his own merits.

So in a nutshell, the whole presidency thing and the legislations are more Economical than political, right?

Since this thread doesn't have any rhyme or reason, I think I found out where your avatar comes from @chilluminati. We have a Korean friend that lives with us for the next month since he's on vacation in Norway. And he brought some weird jelly candy with him. imgur.com/fTvkq8O Looks familiar huh?

I'm pretty sure it's from an anime, Crayon Shin Chan. Don't ask me why I know that.
