For me, the 360 D-Pad is definitely the worst.

Hey guys, do you wanna know why the 360 & the dualshock D-pads are so shit? It's because they're both pressure sensitive! I didn't realize that the dualshock d-pad was pressure sensitive until I was gaming one night earlier this year (can't remember which game, think it was Smuggler's run 2) and noticed that the system would input a stronger command the harder I pushed in a direction on the D-pad. I always wondered why I had such difficulty playing demanding 2D games like SoR3 and SSF2T on Sony consoles. Welp, now I know. Thankfully I've found an excellent 3rd party alternative for my 2D games on PS2; still looking for one for PS3. Cervantes Were you aware of this?

I didn't even know a D-pad could be made bad until I played on the 360 controller. And I played all my 2D fighters on the Ps2 with the standard Ps2 controller and didn't think it was bad at the time. Trying to play it now and I see how bad the Ps2 D-pad is. It's like trying to play guitar with your foot.
The Saturn design is the only D-pad I could play with that comes close to the controls of using a arcade stick. And in some ways even better than a arcade stick.

Because I don't think I ever played a game that had pressure-sensitive d-pad inputs on the 360. Anyway, the design of the button itself is shit, do it doesn't matter - be it pressure-sensitive or not, it's a terrible d-pad. One thing that I haven't mentioned is that I've been using, for the last three years or so, the standard wireless Xbox One controller on my pc, and... It's surprisingly good and, since we're talking about d-pads, it has one of the best d-pads I've experienced. It uses a standard cross design with a very slightly concave center that's easy on the thumb, it's very light to press (unlike the 360) and it clearly "clicks" as soon as I press a direction (similar to the click of a good mouse). I haven't used the Series X controller yet, but I hope Microsoft didn't change it too much, as the XOne quickly became one of my favourites. I've recently played very "technical" 3d games (the Ninja Gaiden collection) and a lot of 2d ones (including the entire Mega Man classic series) and it was very responsive and comfortable in both cases. I really don't have any issues with it; maybe the face buttons are a bit harder and noisier than usual, but it's not much of a problem. Has anyone used the Series X controllers? Do they have the same quality?

Do they have the same quality? From what I understand, both the 360 and original Xbox controllers use the pressure sensitive design, which gives them that squishy feel. And unlike the dualshock D-pads, they're not even textured, which makes them super slippery too. I'm not sure if the PS1 controller's D-pad is pressure sensitive like the Dualshocks' are. Someone needs to confirm this.
