Have any of you been able to get a gamepad working for this game? I've tried plenty but none of them seem to be detected by the game.

Yes. My 360 pad, as well as my DualShock 4 (via the DS4Windows program) both seem to work fine.

Never played a Metroid in mine laif (except a little of the very first using 'Justin Bailey'). Was going to start Other M the other day though, which I understand is a sequel to this game here, which itself is a chronological continuation of the Metroid Prime series... The original sadly being a b/w Gameboy game... Should I have played this first before Other M? Hmmm... wasn't really inclined to though... not that it matters now... Have a slight regret I didn't download it now that I know the original's a black & white GB gheyme... Makes me wonder... Why work so hard to make a remake only to have it available for just a day or two...  |

Well, at least they didnt catch a C&D yet like the Mario 64 remake did. This is why you should never use ripped assets from official games, especially when it's concerning Nintendo.
Also, I've managed to get my controller working and the game is great. I didn't remember that I actually played some of Metroid 2 when I was a kid until I heard the first stage theme and recognized it immediately.

They've actually delivered! That's great! Someone should make a PSA for developers of fangames so they stop announcing them in early stages just to get taken down.

I heard that Nintendo recently took it down. What a damn shame. Doesn't this remake technically count as "emulation"? I thought game companies aren't allowed to take action against emulators/emulated games?

Spirit Bomb That makes no sense regarding the legal status of emulation. You'll find many emulation sites taken down routinely, or at least having their catalogues trimmed at the request of various game companies' legal departments. It ends up being more of one of those nuisances that is too widespread to stamp out. Always neat to see what the fan communities can come up with though, particularly with older console emulation. In any case, AM2R, the Metroid II remake isn't running on a GBA emulator, SNES emulator, etc. It is a self-contained game that was created, I believe, in GameMaker Stuido.
