So just today I found the remote for my LCD TV hidden in a box in my attic. I put batteries in and tested it out, but sadly it seems to have broken at some point, most likely due to the extreme temperature fluctuations common in attics during winter/summer. Oddly enough, the remote for my CRT TV, which was in the same box in the attic, worked perfectly when I tested it out today. Weird...
Anyway, this is a problem, as I hate the insane amount of input lag I get when I play my games on the LCD TV. I currently only use composite and VGA cables, but in the past I have in fact used an HDMI cable with my PS3, but I can't remember if there was any difference in input delay. I've heard one person say that HDMI cables have less input delay on LCD TVs compared to analog cables (like composite and VGA). Is this true?
I've heard several people say that setting an LCD TV to gaming mode will fix the input delay problem. Can anyone here tell me more about this feature?
I've tried to use a universal remote on this TV in the past, but synching the right frequency was way too complicated, so I gave up.
What should I do? What universal remotes have you used/which ones do you recommend I try? Are there universal remotes that are easy to use? Or should I just hunt down a replacement remote model for my specific TV on Ebay?
