I have never once seen proof that 3rd party controllers for the 5200 exist. I've heard that they do in fact exist, but are very rare. Shame, seeing as how the 5200 controller was a complete disaster.
Does anyone here have proof that third party/after market controllers for the 5200 exist?

There might be some Alan 9000s becoming available any time soon, but I'm not entirely sure.

Nah, that's all I know. I can't give you a better answer. The Alan 9000s are just part of CGR lingo.

MeleeMonk Alan 9000's are custom controllers built and sold by this fellow (http://www.ebay.com/usr/wvguy9). Mark has reviewed a few of them including one for the Sega Mark III

Oh now I see. Thanks @imperial_Khador. But I imagine it would be much more difficult for that guy to make one of these for the Atari 5200, with its pressure-sensitive joystick.

MeleeMonk Possibly, but it looks like there were 3rd party, arcade-style joysticks made for the 5200, like this GIM Fire Command. Suggests to me than an Alan 9000 could be done. There was also this device, which is a 2600 to 5200 converter, and thus would probably work with 7200, Master System, and Genesis controllers. Looks like Wico made some controllers for the 5200 as well. I have one of their 2600 controllers, which I've always liked. I prefer a game-pad, but it was head and shoulders over the base 2600 controllers. More info at these pages atariage.com/5200/archives/hardware.htmlwww.atarihq.com/5200/sticks52.html
