I never owned a NES but if I had one my first game would had been Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt. That is one of the best cartridges in history next to Super Mario All-Stars + World on the SNES.
Besides that the first game I would probably asked for would had been either Castlevania, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Life Force, Kid Icarus, or TNMT. There were too many good choices to just choose one.
I did not buy my Super Nintendo, it was a gift, and it came with Super Mario World. The first game I asked for it as a kid was F-Zero, but only because I already had Super Mario World, otherwise it would still had been my first choice, then later I got Mega Man X, Mega Man X2, Mega Man X3, Super Castlevania IV, Contra III The Alien Wars, Gradius III, Killer Instinct, Battletoads & Double Dragon, Imperium, and of course all the Mortal Kombat games.
I always wanted a Sega Genesis and obviously Sonic The Hedgehog would had been my first choice, but The Return Of Shinobi was probably the game I wished I had the most.
They got me my N64 late and the first games I had for it were The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time, Super Mario 64, and GoldenEye. The first games they got me after that were probably F-Zero X, 1080 Snowboarding, Wave Race 64, Killer Instinct Gold, and Star Wars Rogue Squadron.
I did not owned a PS1 until I already had a PS2, which it was unnecessary at that point since the PS2 already played PS1 games. I did not even know the Saturn existed besides just hearing the name like hearing the names of the Sega CD, the Sega 32X, and the Sega Master System.
However when the PS1 was still hot and before I owned a PS2 I would play PS1 games at my cousins' and the first game I played and that I really became a fan of because at that point I've seen it many times at the arcades was Marvel Vs. Capcom 1, it became my most desire game at that point. I have to say I remember for the PS1 most people would actually rent games as opposed of buying them, you would go to Blockbuster and get a few movies along with some games. I guess you can still do that with the Red Box, but it is not the same, and I don't know how PlayStation Now is actually doing.
The first PS1 game I owned was Mortal Kombat Trilogy that I also had on the N64, then after that I got Castlevania Symphony Of The Night, Metal Slug X, and the other Mortal Kombat games.
My PS2 was also a gift I believe, but the games I bought with my own money. I don't remember which one was my first, probably Mortal Kombat V Deadly Alliance, but my first games were definitely Contra Shattered Soldier, Gradius V, and of course Castlevania Lament Of Innocence, then later I got Castlevania Curse Of Darkness, Neo Contra, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Capcom Fighting Evolution, and the rest of Mortal Kombat games. I also bought many collections like Street Fighter, Mega Man, Mega Man X, Sonic, Gradius, and Metal Slug. This is when I also became a super fan of PlayStation particularly because of Gran Turismo 3 and Gran Turismo 4.
The GameCube belonged to my brother, but the first games we got for it were definitely all the James Bond games along with F-Zero GX which is one of my all time favorite games.
We did not owned a Dreamcast but we wanted one to play Mortal Kombat Gold, The House Of The Dead 2, and many orhers. The commercials supporting the Dreamcast were unmissable in Cartoon Network while watching re-runs of Dragon Ball Z, Johnny Bravo, and Dexter's Laboratory.
The Wii was also a gift even though I was at a point where I could already pay for it, probably got it with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort along with both of the Super Mario Galaxy games, and of course New Super Mario Bros. Wii. We'll end up collecting all the first party games for the system, and we got the tall boxes versions as well.
The PS3 was the first system I bought with my own money and I bought it with a copy of Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe. My second game was probably Ninja Gaiden Sigma which I absolutely love. I bought the slim model so those games were old at that point. The first new release I got was Gran Turismo 5, and I got Castlevania Lords Of Shadow that was still relatively fresh. In fact I got my PS3 before I ever owned my Wii. Although my brothers did have a Wii already for years.
The next system I bought was the Wii U that came with Nintendo Land and Super Mario 3D World, then I bought New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, also collecting all the first party games for the system, and have all the Amiibos so far besides Animal Crossing.
I didn't jump into getting a PS4 for a while, I was more than happy with my PS3 for all the fighting, move, and racing games, however at some point I was about to get a Xbox One because they had Killer Instinct exclusively, but decided to go for the PS4 when I heard KOF XIV was going to be exclusive, which is a series I had been a huge fan of since the arcades.
I was going to wait for the slim but I wanted to play Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat XL. As a consequence those were the first 2 games I had for the system. Although I think I got my copy of Mortal Kombat XL before I got my Street Fighter V Collector's Edition copy in the mail. Now that KOF XIV has been released I have it, so I'm really satisfied with the system. I'm looking forward for titles like Tekken 7, Ace Combat 7, Resident Evil 7, Gran Turismo Sport, and Nioh. I also want that Bloodborne plat.
