Might as well have a thread for releases of note on the eShop.
Metroid Zero Mission finally released on the North American eShop for the Wii U yesterday. An excellent remake and expansion of the original Metroid, released for the GBA in 2004.

Crap, beat me to Fast Racing Neo. Yes, I've also been looking towards buying that one in the E-Shop
I also own Shovel knight and am planning on getting Shantae and maybe the new Fatal Frame. Who knows, I may also get Earthbound since I tend to drop emulated games all the time (On that note I would like a release of Sweet Home, that game seriously needs some noteriety).

For those that like Wild Gunman and Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley was recently posted too.

Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 was released on the Wii U eShop this week. www.nintendo.com/games/detail/super-mario-advance-4-super-mario-bros-3-wii-uDespite the lengthy title, this is probably my favourite version of SMB3. Nicely, this version includes all the eReader levels, most of which I'd never played before. Sadly, no way to get the other eReader bonuses, but that still made it worth a purchase for me.

I'm a HUGE fan of SMB3. What are these eReader levels you speak of?

So when SMB3 came out for the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo was pushing their eReader accessory: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_e-ReaderMark has reviewed it, as well as a few games for it. It could do a number of things. You could scan a series of cards in, which gave you access to an NES game (Excite Bike, etc). It was also used to add things to other games either on the GBA itself, or when connected to the GameCube (like Animal Crossing). In SMB3, you could scan in up to cards that would add extra levels to "World e" which was accessible from the title screen. These range from simple re-creations of World 1-1, to some very challenging stages. Many of the stage cards were Japan-only releases. Actually if you have Mario Maker, there is a person who has been re-creating some of these levels (http://goo.gl/3DXlLe). In any case, the GBA version that was released on the Wii U eShop on Thursday includes the various eReader levels, so one doesn't have to hunt down rare cards. Sadly, the other functions of the eReader don't appear to have been emulated. Some of the other neat functions were cards that added a power up to your inventory, including the standard SMB3 items, but also a Super Mario World Cape Feather and a Boomerang weapon. One of the cards even added SMB2 vegetables to the SMB3 levels, so you could pick up and throw them, etc. Edit1: I've been playing it a bit, and what I've read, it looks like they may have included more eReader levels that the GBA cart could originally hold. Originally if you hit the limit, you'd have to override one of the scanned levels with a new one. It looks like they're all included here though, including levels that were given away as promos, and Japan-exclusive levels. Edit2: Something else worth mentioning. The eReader levels give you the option of playing as Luigi as well, and he operates like he does in Mario 2, and some of the more recent Mario games. He jumps higher, but his controls are slippery. Nice to see that. In the japanese release, there was a card that unlocked 'Luigi physics' for the main game, but I hadn't realized it was his default for the eReader levels. Edit3: Looks like some of the options that were featured in other eReader cards (SMB2 vegetables, SMW cape feather) make appearances in the world e levels.
