I have one. I find that porting Mario Maker was a good move, so it was Hyrule Warriors, those games are massive, so the replayability works well for long trips.

Already have a 3DS here. On the fence of whether I'll pick up Mario Marker for it, as I have it for the Wii U.
I do like that they're putting it out for the 3DS, as it was one of the Wii U's best sellers, but still limited in potential sales by the relatively small number of Wii U owners. There's the potential for a lot more sales on the 3DS.
As far as switching the priorities, basically making the large variety of levels the focus, with level creation more of an afterthought, I think it could work. If I'm playing on the go, I'm not likely to want to spend a lot of time creating levels on the smaller setup so much as I'd want some fun Mario platforming levels to play.
I might pick it up on sale at some point, but I have a feeling that Super Mario Maker will also get an upgraded release on the Switch, and I'm more likely to hold out for that.

Not at this point. I'd rather be saving up for the Switch.

Is Mario Maker on the WiiU any good? Does it keep your interest?

3DS, no. Game Gear, yes.

Is Mario Maker on the WiiU any good? Does it keep your interest? I would say so, yes. To be honest, I'm not all that big into level creation. I mess around it now and then, and it reminds me of Mario Paint back in the day (which I think is intentional). But people have come up with some crazy, creative levels, so there's always something new out there to try. As with a lot of games, it got the most playtime shortly after purchase, but I still load it up a few times a month.

Not really. The lack of online sharing is a huge loss. This may be misinformed but it seems as though the extent of levels you get to experience is dictated largely by Nintendo, friends you share with locally and yourself. At that rate, I'd rather play a Sonic Maker or Kirby since I'm plain awful at 2D Marios.
