Looks like Ubisoft has some free PC games up for the next few days...if you can brave the horror of Uplay. Not all winners, but some gems in there.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Splinter Cell
Rayman Origins
The Crew
Beyond Good and Evil
Far Cry: Blood Dragon
Assassin's Creed 3

Oh god uplay. I had to sign up for that crap just to play my copy of silent hunter 5 that I downloaded. I hated it now I cant even remember the password or username for it because I never bothered to write it down.

Spirit Bomb Uplay's Wikipedia PageSo it is an odd combination of DRM, a game launching portal (like Steam or GoG Galaxy), and online multiplayer service. Even on console games, you need a Uplay ID to access Ubisoft games' online multiplayer. On PC, even if you buy a digital copy of a Ubisoft game, it is launched through Uplay...even if you've purchased it through another online service. There are some cool ideas, for instance, any achievement/trophy you'd earn in a game earns you points on Uplay, which you can spend on extras within other games, and that feature is cross-platform. That said, Uplay is generally seen as negative thing, much like EA's Origin service.

Spirit Bomb It's Ubisoft's inferior equivalent to Steam. Hmm, I've got Splinter Cell, I have Blood Dragon, I had Beyond Good and Evil, not really interested in Assassin's Creed, don't know about the other games...

I'd recommend Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and Rayman Origins as very solid games, though depends on what you enjoy. Sands of Time is a decent action platform-puzzler with some cool time mechanics. Rayman Origins is an excellent 2D platformer.

Wai, they're permanent?! O.o I already had an Uplay account previously so this may be a good deal for me, DRM and all.

You'd have to ask Ubisoft for a definitive answer. For the PC-client, DRM is certainly the main factor. Ubisoft has often been over-zealous about PC-DRM. Even if they're not at their worst, it is certainly a major motivation for Uplay's awkwardness.
As for offering some inter-connectivity between Ubisoft games on different platforms via a universal login, it is interesting, but they don't seem far enough. For instance, it would be near if they used it to transfer save data between platforms, etc, but no such luck.
