The computer I bought for some reason doesn't have HDMI or DVI slots. It has VGA and two other slots that I have no idea what they are, but no DVI or HDMI, which sucks. I've heard in the past that VGA cables have more input delay on LCD monitors than DVI, which, if true, is really undesirable for gaming.
Is there any way to remedy this? The LCD flat screen monitor I own is about a decade old (and square, not widescreen), but it does have an analog/digital selection option in the built-in menu.

I've never heard of it. Input lag is mostly the result of the screen applying post-processing filters to the image so it doesn't look too stretched; on any average-sized pc monitor, that never happens (it would only be a problem if you were plugging it on a huge tv screen). So no, you're good to go! But don't your pc come with a graphics card? The card always has its own slot (otherwise, if you use the motherboard slot, the card won't be used). It's better be sure, look if the card doesn't have the usual HDMI slot.

Cervantes I checked the back of my computer and there were no plugs on any of the slots (and I know exactly what you're talking about). Very fishy for a computer with HD graphics capabilities. What's worse, the damn thing doesn't even work. I tried to boot it up the other day for the first time and it kept saying there was a compatibility issue(s) with one or more of the components, and then the monitor would go completely dark and the computer would become completely unresponsive. :/ How disappointing.

It seems you're getting unlucky with your pcs, maestro. Look if there's someone around who could help you to set it up, sometimes the problem is a simple issue.

Cervantes I've decided I'm going to return it and get a full refund and go for one of these instead: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883230030 I hear this one will be easier and cheaper to repair than the other budget-priced one that I bought, due to the fact that this PC doesn't require specialized parts, or so a computer expert told me today. Apparently the first PC I was talking about (the cheap Lenovo, the one I bought) is built with company-specific parts that can only be acquired through the company via mail order. Who would have guessed?

Tell us when you set up the new one, then! It's a pretty nice pc and you should have no trouble with it. I also hope you get your full refund.

I'm really glad this new one will come with an actual graphics card with DVI & HDMI ports and not some cheap built-in graphics chip like that Lenovo.
