Just when I thought I was out... So, it looks like we'll be getting quite a bit of Fire Emblem in the next year or so. We have "Fire Emblem Heroes", a mobile game launching on February 2nd. I'm not super excited about this one, but I do think FE suits mobile a lot better than many other Nintendo properties. Next up, "Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia", launching for the 3DS on May 19th. This feels a bit quick to me, given that it took my 8 months to finish the 3 campaigns in Fire Emblem Fates. I am excited to find out that it is apparently a remake of 1992's Fire Emblem Gaiden, which I have never played, even on an emulator. The trailer doesn't offer any gameplay footage, but I while watching it, I wondered if it might pique Spirit Bomb 's attention, since the character designs are definitely old-school Fire Emblem, and that seems to have been his sticking point with the newer games. (Or at least he always pops into Fire Emblem threads to mention that he hates them ). The scenes they did show gave me a very positive mid-90's anime vibe...like Record of Lodoss Ware. In the fall, we're apparently getting "Fire Emblem Warriors", a musou-style game on the Switch. I think I'll be up for this, as I enjoyed both Hyrule Warriors and Dragon Quest Heroes (which I still think should have been called Dragon Warriors in the west). Lastly, we're getting another main-series title on the Switch in 2018.

Yeah, that new 3DS one is definitely an improvement character-design wise (they nailed the eyes), but the characters still suffer from sharp chin pale skin syndrome, which seemed to have carried over from the last 2 3DS games. So I'd say artistically it's better than Awakening/Fates, but still a few leagues beneath Radiant Dawn for me.
