For me it is PES, F1, and KOF.
KOF in particular had a yearly release. I wish it was still the same, but I understand crowds are not as cool nowadays, and it would be hard for this to happen.
KOF had:
- '94 - '95 - '96 - '97 - '98 - '99 - 2000 - 2001 - 2002 - 2003 - Maximum Impact (2004) - XI (2005) - Neowave (2006) - Maximum Impact 2 (2007) - '98 Ultimate Match (2008) - XII (2009) - 2002 Unlimited Match (2010) - XIII (2011)
Give or take, as some of those came a year before on the arcades in Japan. '94 Re-Bout also came in 2004.
Then we got nothing until XIV that came exclusively for the PS4 in 2016.
PES has been good since 2014 (released in 2013) and F1 since 2010 (released the same year).
I also would not mind getting a New Super Mario Bros. every year, but I guess Super Mario Maker kinda solved that to an extend. It is not the same though.

Now that I think about it, there's no series with yearly releases that I got into. I like a few KOFs, but not enough to play every installment.
Now, if your question was about which games we replay every year, then I would answer Panzer Dragoon, Nights into Dreams and any Ninja Gaiden. Maybe a few minutes of Mirrors Edge too.

Are we talking about games we replay every year here?

Dude you don't have to delete the thread every time you change your mind. You could just edit the title of the thread.

Balder I did not delete it, was it getting deleted? dschult3 It is about the game series you can always play sequels every year without getting bored. Similar to Call Of Duty and Assassin's Creed that pretty much have a yearly release.

The only yearly releases I can think of are sports games. Are there really people out there who buy the new version every single year? For an updated roster? Weird.

Yeah, it is more common than you think. A lot of people buy every new Call Of Duty, and Assassin's Creed. Last year they didn't have a new one but they had 2 collections, the Enzo Trilogy remastered and the Chronicles collection. I do F1 every year and PES. F1 are usually complete different games with different car models, physics feel, and sounds. With PES, they get me because they just keep getting better. I also did it back in the day with Mega Man X, Metal Slug, Castlevania, and KOF games. Bro gamers do it with Madden and NBA2K because often those are the only games they play. There are also those that do it with Pokémon. In fact a lot of RPG series have yearly releases, whether they are mainline or side projects. Just this year there are 2 Kingdom Hearts games (2.8 and 1.5 Remix) despite that 3 is nowhere near to be seen yet. So they may start doing it too. I recall at least 3 or 4 Final Fantasy games last year as well.

Ah, I just remembered one of my favourite series had yearly releases for some time! Tomb Raider. I have played and beaten every pc release of the series minus Rise and Osiris, I was even playing through Angel of Darkness just last month (it was awful).
Edit: I also just remembered Mega Man, of which I played most of the classics, the complete X, Zero and am now finishing the ZX series. It seems there really are more series with yearly releases than I realized.

Ahh, I see. My thoughts went straight to games with the year in the title. And honestly, I never realized any of those franchises had had yearly releases. Maybe because I don't usually buy games right at launch.

The closest I've been to yearly releases was Tomb Raider and Armored Core.
