What do you guys think of them? Do you like them? Or hate them? Or just don't care about them?
I used to be very avid achievement hunter back in the days around the time before Halo 4. (Halo 4 was the game I stopped caring that much since I couldn't get the single player Legendary achievement). Nowadays I just like them, not obsessed about it. If I like a game I will try to get as many of them (within the realm of possibility, some are just impossible). If I don't like a game, but just want to finish it, I'll stop achievement hunting right after I beat it.

Balder may be one of the best players we have on the forum. So far: PhantasmaStriker 45 platinums lordecarnage 26 platinums fsfsxii 18 platinums @pimpalacious 17 platinums scipioafricanus 7 platinums Falcula18 4 platinums lukefonfabre388 1 platinum For Balder on the Xbox One: - Dear Esther Landmark Edition - Knight Squad - Pneuma Breath Of Life - Titanfall 2 - Valiant Hearts The Great Wall Honorable mentions that he is almost finished with: - Rayman Legends - Titanfall - Wolfenstein The New Order - Wolfenstein The Old Blood ... and on the Xbox 360: - Castlevania Symphony Of The Night - Dynasty Warriors 6 - Dynasty Warriors Gundam - Fallout 3 - Halo 3 ODST Campaign Edition - Lego Indiana Jones - Lego Star Wars TCS - Rayman Origins - The Walking Dead - The Walking Dead Season Two Honorable mentions that he is almost finished with: - Battlefield Bad Company 2 - Halo 3 - Limbo - Mass Effect 2 - Mass Effect 3 - Need For Speed Undercover - Prototype I don't know how platinums compare to achievements, but I count them anyway. Also some of those games Balder plays I never heard like Dear Esther, Pneuma, and Knight Squad, so I have no clue how difficult those are. On the other hand we also have players like Dan E. Kool, so we have all range of players really.

I always have things like achievements and trophies turned off, at best they're an annoying nuisance that pop up to disturb me and piss me off when I'm trying to enjoy my videogames.

I dont trophy hunt that often I mean not like some people do. I wanted to get a platinum trophy on akiba's trip and may try and do that again someday but for now its on hold. I got a platinum off of fallout 3 years ago and that is my only one to this day. Also would have got one on bad company 2 if I still had friends to help with the mulitplayer trophies.

stratogustav wow haha. You keep a better list of my completed games than me (even with honorable mentions!). - Dear Esther Landmark Edition = It's a walking simulator and it was pretty boring. It was pretty cheap and I thought I'd try out and see what's the deal with these types of games. I felt like it tried way too hard to be artistic and deep, and it came out feeling flat and pretentious. The only reason why I finished it was because I can now look back and never feel that I have to play it again (plus it only took 2 hours or so to do it). - Knight Squad - It's a pretty fun light multiplayer arena game. I've played it a lot with non-gamer friends when they come over as it's easy to understand and play. To get all the achievements required about 1 hour of grinding + the campaign (which was surprisingly good). - Pneuma Breath Of Life - It's a puzzle game, reminded very much of Portal with its narrative and first person perspective. You pretty much get 80% of the achievements through natural progression while the rest is unlocked through finding easter eggs (YT guides helped me with this). So they weren't that hard to complete.

Dude Fallout 3 completion is pretty hardcore. There are so much to do in that world. It's one of my proudest completions (not that it's hard to do, but is just so time-consuming, and requires several playthroughs). Have you completed all of the DLC too? I actually got my last 3 achievements this Christmas.

stratogustav I actually got all the achievements in the following games too, but I haven't got all the DLC achievements/don't own the DLC (This would count as a Platinum Trophy in Playstation's system): Xbox One: -Goat Simulator Xbox 360: - Halo Reach (this one pains me because I'm only missing the multiplayer achievements from the Halo CE DLC which can't be obtained in any practical way anymore due to the fact that they've removed the playlist and limited the party limit in matchmaking). -Minecraft (It only had 400G when it came out and they updated the score after the Xbox One version came, there's no reason to play this version anymore so why bother).

I actually got my last 3 achievements this Christmas. I still remember getting my platinum. I just had to get the sneak bobblehead from one of the cave systems and that would be it. When I first played the game I liked it so much I decided to go for the platinum trophy on it and became pretty dedicated to getting it. It took a long time though since I played the game on and off.

Just because you have trophies/achievements doesn't mean you are good at gaming; it just means you can have a lot of time on your hands. I look at them as a way to experience all the game has to offer. Bethesda and Bioware do this well. Most of the time, their trophies follow along with game moments, so gaining them allows you to experience the full game or point you in a direction you might not normally follow. Games like Fallout: New Vegas however almost punish you. You have to do to X-amount of tasks with a weapon or explosive. Grinding doesn't make trophy. I am close to getting the Mass Effect platinum, but have to grind with some tasks. Then I will have platinum for the entire trilogy. Does that mean I am good at those or am I just dedicated?

Achievements aren't balanced. Some are just grinding, some are extremely easy and some are incredible hard. For instance the Halo 3 Vidmaster Challenges Achievements give you 0G and are among the hardest of achievements I've got. Meanwhile you got stuff like Dear Esther with a 200G achievement for holding the joystick forward for 10 minutes (it is for completing Chapter 4). I just wish the gaming score reflected more on what you've done in gaming and not just picking some easy games or spending a lot of time. As for trophies they are even worse in the regard that you can't really compare them with other people, only having 4 categories (bronze, silver, gold, platinum) where the amount of the 3 first are different from each game. At least with achievements you can say that 1000G is a completed game (without DLC). So with a cumulative score of X you can say that that person has completed X/1000 games approximately.

Just because you have trophies/achievements doesn't mean you are good at gaming Some plats are definitely a good indicator of how good you are, like those that require you playing on harder difficulties or having to manually overcome mechanically difficult trials and challenges. Of course, having a lot of time on your hands factors in the sense that in order to get good at anything that requires skill, you need to put a lot of time into it. There are insignificant plats like the Telltale games plats or something along the lines of the My Name Is Mayo plat. However, in my opinion, if you have the plats for: - Assetto Corsa - Bionic Comando Rearmed - Capcom Arcade Cabinet - Castlevania Harmony Of Despair - Chaos Code - Darius Burst Chronicle Saviours - Darkstalkers Resurrection - Deadstorm Pirates - Devil May Cry 4 Special - Dirt Rally - The Evil Within - Gran Turismo 5 - Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R - Hard Corps Uprising - The King Of Fighters XIII - Mega Man 10 - Mega Man Legacy Collection - Metal Gear Solid IV Guns Of The Patriots - Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 - Raiden IV Overkill - RayStorm HD - Sine Mora - Soldner-X Himmelssturmer - Soldner-X2 Final Prototype - Space Channel 5 Part 2 - Street Fighter V - Tetris Ultimate - Thexder Neo - Time Crisis 4 - Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 - Ultra Street Fighter IV - WipEout HD - Zen Pinball 2 You are definitely one of the top players on the planet. How do I know? Because I own and played those games and even though just like Armored Core Raven I don't go for the plats, I know those games are hardcore, so if you have any of those plats, respect.

Hardest achievement out there is probably Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter's leaderboard achievements. You gotta be number one in the world. It's insane.
My hardest achievement is «A Monument to All Your Sins» from Halo Reach, which is to do the campaign on Legendary solo. And it's usually counted as one, or even the hardest campaign of all Halo games.

GT5 plat is next to impossible with a racing wheel, and impossible with a controller. Once i have enough money in the summer, i'm definitely playing through the GT games. The amount of skill required for GT5 plat is unprecedented.
