An easy 5/5. These games did so much for SW games. For once you get to experience the battlefield as a footsoldier (even though you sometimes get to play as a jedi/sith too). It has that timeless gameplay that has given the series its legendary status. Too bad EA and Dice had to turn the series into Battlefield.

I never got to play the first 2, I was unaware of their existence until the new one came out, they just became invisible under the incredible quantity of games of various things getting released for the PS2, on the other hand GameCube Star Wars games were a lot more visible because the GameCube didn't have that many games for it. They had a good decent amount, but not even close as the quantities of PS2 games. The PS2 games felt like they were getting released by the minute.
About the new one from EA, I haven't played it yet, I got it on a sale with the season pass DLC, but so far I've only played the X-Wing VR Mission which is amazing, that one I have played multiple times. I still want to try the actual game, it looks that it has very pretty graphics, and if Mark liked it maybe it is not so bad, we all know Mark usually has a very good taste for games.
I do hear that the classic Battlefront games were better though. I can't really compare them because like I said, I really haven't played neither, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case considering the new one shipped without a campaign and like 4 maps.
There is a new Star Wars game in the making directed by Amy Hennig, the woman responsible for elevating Naughty Dog and Cristal Dynamics to their current status, and also by the team behind all those awesome GameCube James Bond games, and the excellent Dead Space games on the PS3, basically the missed good side of EA.
So I'm very excited for that one. Then again I was very excited for the first Dice one as well because the trailers looked awesome, but became dissapointed when I heard there was not a solo campaign. The rumors are that the new one will finally come with a campaign, so that's good news. Hopefully we'll hear more about it on E3 and possible have the game by the Holiday season.
Like on any Star Wars games, what I care most about are the space ship battles, and if they end up doing that, I want them to do them on VR because after repeatedly playing the X-Wing VR Mission you can't help it, you simply want more of that, they are basically religious experiences, like when you first enter hyper space piloting an X-Wing, not many gaming experiences come close to that.

I regret to say I sadly have the first one for Xbox, and from what I remember it was absolutely terrible, I tried to play through one battle but wow it was genuinely unplayable. I haven't played it more than once and that was many years ago now but at the time I felt that was more than enough to last a lifetime and i wished I had never played it, with complete shit for controls, choppy and uglier than prev gen in the visuals, awful gameplay with broken balance and nothing fun to do and being exclusively focused on some kind of awful team based multiplayer style with no real singleplayer story or anything else of value or interest available, I definitely couldn't find any, it's a game I'll gladly never touch again, complete rubbish, easily one of the worst games I've ever played and by far the worst Star Wars game I know of.

Never played any of them. Interestingly, I also just realized I don't have any Star Wars game in my collection. Huh.

Well if it makes you feel any better I dug out my old copy and turns out it was the first game, not the sequel, so maybe the sequel is better, I dunno, but the first one still sucks monkey balls, purely objectively speaking, I also hated it, purely subjectively speaking.

First of: No, the first one was quite good, but lacked a little variety. And secondly, the sequel is better and is considered to be the best SW game ever (even better than KOTOR).

KotOR and the sequel were okay, never heard anyone refer to the Battlefront games as the best Star Wars games though, when best Star Wars games are discussed you rarely if ever see any of the Battlefront games mentioned, Force Unleashed is easily the most commonly considered best on the internets everywhere I've poked around throughout the years, though I personally didn't care much for that one either, it was like a heavily downgraded Lethal Alliance.

I have still to encounter someone who thinks The Force Unleashed is the best.

Okay so for everyone who isn't a biased Balder, should I give the first Battlefront on Xbox a second chance? I found my old copy and it's apparently 360 compatible according to the internet, so I could technically play it to see if it's as bad as I recall or not, but I can't decide if it's worth my time after how badly I remember it on my first time playing it.
You decide!

You decide! Am I biased because I've simply played it? Pretty much everyone who's played it likes it. It's why they're so expensive online, especially on Xbox.

No, you're biased because you are clearly overly in love with these games and can't see them with objective eyes, it isn't likely that they're anywhere near as good as you claim, but what is clear is that you like them so much that you think that highly of them so claim they are.
