So bad it's good or just plain bad? Hard to tell sometimes. It's so great it rips your arm off and explodes an helicopter with it! And then scream in anguish! As cobretti said, it's a 10/5. I love this movie. You know how every Rambo sequel tried to top the previous movies? Well, imagine if they had absolutely no intentions of keeping any resemblance of restraint: that is Deadly Prey. All the actors chew the scenery, spit it out, and then it explodes. Because everything explodes in this movie. Even the tears in dramatic moments. There's everything in it: action, love, friendship, social commentary and mullets. To prove my love for this masterpiece: there were no portuguese subtitles for it, so I made them myself (both of them are different synchs for the one I made). It was one of the most fun things I've ever done with my time: I took a lot of liberties in the translation so it could sound even better in portuguese, and with absolutely no modesty (because this movie screws modesty in the ass) I can say the subtitles make a 10/5 movie become a 11/5. A "Fuck you!" that would sound very lame in portuguese ("Foda-se!") became a "Fecha o cu!": it has almost the same sound as a "fuck you", but means something like "close your asshole!" and is even more rude in portuguese. cobretti: I hope you saw it subtitled!  Seriously though, I hate when people make "ironic" bad movies, bad movies done on purpose. What I love about Deadly Prey is how everything is legitimate: everyone was clearly trying their best. It's just that their best is the most demented over-the-top action movie ever made. scipioafricanus - You mentioned Dudikoff, so we are all legally obligated to discuss American Ninja next. |

I can guarantee I already watched all these movies at some point during my childhood. I just can't remember them, which is a total bless for me, as I now have the ability to watch them as if they were brand new, and I also know many would be jealous of that.

On a slight tangent: the funny thing about Dudikoff is that Cannon Films really tried to sell him as a sex symbol. So, what are your favourite Deadly Prey scenes? I like every time Hogan screams Danton's name, doing his best to hide the sexual tension between the two (and failing hard). Also, his father-in-law scenes are all badass, like when he finds an obvious enemy soldier: "Friend or enemy!?" "Friend!" "YOU LIAR!" RATATATATA!!!  |
