scipioafricanus - Thanks for the recommendation, mate! I didn't know about it, and Cannon Films is certainly a great topic for a documentary. The brothers who ran it are certainly characters, and I didn't know have the stuff that went on about them.

On a slight tangent: the funny thing about Dudikoff is that Cannon Films really tried to sell him as a sex symbol. So, what are your favourite Deadly Prey scenes? I like every time Hogan screams Danton's name, doing his best to hide the sexual tension between the two (and failing hard). Also, his father-in-law scenes are all badass, like when he finds an obvious enemy soldier: "Friend or enemy!?" "Friend!" "YOU LIAR!" RATATATATA!!! The person they should have pushed as a sex symbol was Lucinda Dickey. She was smoking!

I went back to watch this as it's one of the few movies I could find on a legit website. Here's my review.
"Am I impressed? Sort of. Is it bad? Definitely. Is it sort of good despite being bad? Yeah! Deadly Prey fits into a very niche category where it takes itself extremely seriously while also being hilarious. I cannot shit on a movie that only has a budget of 4000 bucks that makes so much out of it. The action is pretty good. It looks pretty good when they fight. The way that Danton kills people is so ruthless and so entertaining. Also the theme was pretty dope. This is a gem of a movie. A gem filled with imperfections that is quite dirty, and you would not show it to your family or certain friends." 3.5/5 which I'll of course bump up to a 4/5 since this is CGR. It was good.

Damn, after watching some more exploitation movies, I have bump up the score for this movie to a clean 4. Maybe even better on a rewatch. It was pretty damn good.

I think the sequel was so good that it improved upon the original. It's a 4.5/5 now, which is a 5 in here. I'll wait with revealing my review before Dan E. Kool post my suggestion.

This is one of my fondest memories with the Pub's film recommendations. This film rules so much that I checked out most of Prior's other films because he's so much fun. The sequel to this film rules as well. One of the few sequels with such a long timespan between films that is actually good.

Maybe Samurai Cop comes close. Some of the Full Moon stuff comes close, too, but Deadly Prey is so sincere.
