I finished off 'Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky' on the PC the other night. I took a break between February and June on this one, but really got into it when I came back. Very much a PS1-style game in a lot of ways, but I really liked the narrative, and the english localization is great. I picked up "Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter" on the Steam summer sale recently and look forward to getting back into it, as the first leaves off on a nice cliffhanger. Isn't that the one where a brother & sister decided to become boyfriend & girlfriend ?...

Just finished up the story mode of Battle Chef Brigade on the Switch.
The brawling elements in this were pretty basic, but I liked the combination of brawler/puzzler, and as a fan of the old Iron Chef series I really liked it extrapolated into a whole fantasy world. This was a nice was to spend a few hours, and I'll probably keep playing the daily challenges for a while.

Just finished up Yakuza 0. I had a really fun time with it. It is a series a friend of mine has been playing and singing the praises of since it started, so it was nice to get into it.
I've got a bunch of other games in the backlog though, so it will probably be a while before I get to Yakuza Kiwami.

Yes. It is a prequel, taking place in the 80's (the majority of the first Yakuza, or its remake Yakuza Kiwami takes place in 2005), so you can jump in without any prior knowledge of the series. It is one of the greatest hits games on the PS4, so the price is low enough that there's not much risk.
The PS2 entries (Yakuza 1 and 2) have both gotten substantial remakes on the PS4, Yakuza 6 came out fairly recently on the PS4, and it looks like the PS3 entries (3-5) are getting ported to the PS4 with new localizations by Atlas in the next while, so it seems like a good time to get into the series. So if you tried out 0 and liked it, you'd probably be able to continue on with the other mainline entries.

Just finished the main campaign in Valkyria Chronicles 1 on the PS4. It was as fun as I remembered. The PS3 release was actually the first PS3 game I purchased. Just going to do the Edy Detachment and Selveria bonus missions now.

Dynamite Cop just arrived in the mail last night and I did a quick play through of it. It's short even for a beat em up, but there's all sorts of different missions and paths to take so hopefully it has some good replay value. This game is similar to the Spikeout series (figures since they're both 3D Sega beat em ups). I think Spikeout plays better, but Dynamite Cop does a few things better as well such as the grapple moves. You can even lift people up while you're standing on something (like a table) and do a piledriver off of it. Really fun game and looking forward to my next few playthroughs.

I just finished the main story in Valkyria Chronicles 4 today. It was a really solid game, and a worthy return of the franchise. That said...after 50+ hours in VC4, right after replaying VC1, I'm a little burned out. Not how much of the post game content I'll get to.

Went through the extra interludes, but didn't bother with the final chapter on hard, since it is just a bit extra added on the final scene. Youtube exists for such things

Finished up Mega Man 11 (or at least the main story on normal). Enjoyable, though on the sort side for a Mega Man game, with only 12 stages total. Bosses were creative, and I would say this is a better attempt at updating the Mega Man aesthetic from the 8-bit era than MM7 or 8. Solid recommendation.

I'll not lie that I still find the artistic style really unappealing, but I'm glad this game got great reviews and everyone seemed to enjoy it. It's definitely in my wishlist now (will buy it once I go through my backlog a bit more!).
