As much as I greatly enjoyed Chrono Trigger, I find myself getting even more deeply engrossed into its successor, Chrono Cross.
So far, it's shaping out to be a great RPG perhaps to the extent of surpassing its esteemed predecessor. What are your experiences with the Chrono series?

I don't hate it, but I definitely don't love it. The story is interesting, and the music is amazing. I just didn't like the fighting system. It reminds me of FF 7 1/2 with its graphics and game play. To me, Chrono Trigger for the Super Nintendo is nearly perfect, and this game had a lot to live up to. Perhaps the excessive hype behind this game ruined it for me.

I enjoyed your video despite I'm not interested in RPGs. I have heard so much about these games that after everything I have heard I do buy into the believe that these are with no doubt some of the best games ever. I believe that, specially of Chrono Trigger. I basically have a blind faith on the word of mouth of these particular games. They scare me because I feel that in order to enjoy them I have to neglect other things because they will simply suck up my attention. Still after hearing your initial impressions it sounds like it is worth checking out for everyone and that they will enjoy it for sure if they are familiar with playing these kind of games from that time.

dschult3 - honestly, I can't fault you for feeling that way. I played Chrono Trigger long after the fact so I don't feel as upset by the differences, in fact, I almost embrace them. If it were a series I held dear to my heart though, I would probably feel the same. It's the same reason I get upset that no Zelda after the '64 titles was ever anything like either title on the '64. I still play the ones after but they never hold a candle to my childhood favorites. stratogustav - I hear where you're coming from but Chrono Trigger only took up 20 hours of my time for 1 playthrough. It's an investment but that's light by comparison to most RPGs. I also find that the more you sink into a world and characters, the more you grow to appreciate them. We need to find an RPG that's finally going to win you over toward the genre my friend!

Despite its reknown and acclaim, I have not played Chrono Trigger. I did play Cross though... up to a point. Where's that damn green dragon ?!?... The game's ok I suppose, but I really didn't care for the constant switching and redistributing of elements between characters - the most stressful and time consuming part of it. Maybe part of the reason why I stopped prematurely...
