Would you guys allow me to practice my sense of justice on the forum? No. Notice that my answer was more open ended. It's that leeway that makes me the more popular moderator.

Smash for Wii U is the best. As for an answer to this topic, maybe Paper Mario? I need to play Color Splash though before I'd say that for sure. The RPG elements being removed wasn't the only bad thing about Sticker Star. Oh, and also DMC ranking going on in here? DMC3 > DmC > DMC4 > DMC > DMC2 I would never be able to play Smash 4 or Brawl after playing competitive Melee. Smash 4 doesn't even have L-canceling. It feels mind-numbing for me. Even Smash 64 is much more interesting to me. As for Paper Mario, I agree, but I think that the casualization happened with Super Paper Mario, which was LONG before Sticker Star. Super Paper Mario was so retardedly simplistic all around, and not just with the gameplay, even though that was by far the biggest downgrade coming from TTYD. Super destroyed my love for the series. I haven't played Sticker Star but I'm sure it's bad (the art direction seems to be an improvement, though).

I've never really been into Smash too competitively but yes Melee being by far the best seems to be the consensus for those that are. Agreed on Super although I considered it to be a spin-off. It still could've been good but the controls and level design felt off to me.

Honestly even if the gameplay had been as good as TTYD's, I still would've hated Super. The art direction was so horrendously bad, just like TYD's. Paper Mario 64 on the other hand actually made a great attempt at looking like an arts and crafts project, and not as obnoxiously so as Sticker Star either it seems. I really loved the painted backgrounds and character portraits in 64, and the character animation was also exceptional in that it didn't look like it was animated in flash. Hell, even the music was infinitely better than that of the sequels, in my opinion.

leaon79s I agree completely, but i prefer DMC4 and view it as the best all around in the DMC series because it has multiple characters with incredibly unrivaled depth, and because its still dated and can be played and enjoyed without any frustrations in this day and age, unlike the other games in the series (Namely DMC1, so outdated ) GOW is fun for a single playthrough, i played them five years ago and haven't looked back since. Actually, 4 is my favorite in terms of story, I give it that. I'm a sucker for saving the damsel in distress type plots. Didn't care much for the stage reverse reuse tho.Plus, the Gunblade-like Red Rose used in tandem with the Yamato sword was what made the game for me - My two favorite weapon types ever, in combi as the main weapons in a game... By rights that should make it one of my favourite games ever... But even so, I still place 1 above it simply because taken in the context of its era, it was amazing. It may not hold up against 3&4 in terms of gameplay now, but the overall quality of presentation still shines through the years as the original spark of genius for the frachise. Almost like comparing Star Wars IV A New Hope to the new flashier films. They should've just kept the new name of the shop (Devil Never Cry) btw, instead of changing it back...
Oh, and also DMC ranking going on in here? DMC3 > DmC > DMC4 > DMC > DMC2 I respect that. Evidently you took into the new DmC style better than me...

leaon79sI think that DMC1 should be compared to NG Black/Sigma, since those are the first games in their respective franchises. Even if we did compare DMC3 to NG, since those came around the same time, i think NG still aged better than DMC.

It'll make you get shitfaced drunk wrecking everything around you and feeling awesome, and the headache is very painful. I love that game. Another example of casualized game series is Tomb Raider. Each reboot tries to make it more appealing to the current audience. It's still a great series and I liked TR 2013 a lot, but I miss the focus on exploration and really tough platforming and I really don't care for the trendy mechanics they're including. Things like upgrades and looting components to make weapons, as seen in Alien Isolation, The Evil Within, Watch Dogs, The Last of Us and every other AAA game in the 2010s.

It goes NGS1 - NGS2 - DMC4 - DMC1 - NG3RE - DMC3 - DMC2 - MGSR. No one cares for NT's DmC, and I still haven't really played the Bayonetta games. If anything LOI is my #1 for overall presentation. We can be here forever if you want to start including titles like NieR Automata and everything else in that realm.

Have you played the Evil Within? RE4 iirc is the first game that brought weapon upgrades, so TEW having it is no surprise.
