Well it came out snd that's something. It still doesn't have anything besides the Atari Vault and it surprises nobody.

Guys, I'm going to come clean, I did actually get this thing and I was one of the people who pre-ordered it on Indiegogo all the way back when it was announced. Hear me out before you judge my sanity on this. I knew it was going to be a disaster of a console. There was no way in hell they were ever going to give us that console on time, and even when if it ever launched, I knew it was not going to be great. At the time of the Indiegogo campaign, I had a lot of expendable cash and thought it might be fun to get one, even though it wasn't worth the money. Now so many years later, I finally got it, and it doesn't even work. There's a problem a few of us has got where the console keeps rebooting. Every time I try a function it reboots. I need a keyboard to fix this problem by going into the bios, and I'll do so so that I can say something meaningful about this thing. I got both the classic controller and the modern one. The modern one is just a cheaply made Xbox One controller. It uses many of the same buttons and the shape is nearly identical, but you can tell the plastic is inferior and there is no texture on it. The classic controller is surprisingly cool though. It lights up in the direction you move the joystick, and it feels much less stiff than the original 2600 joystick. The console itself looks nice and the real wood on it is so classic. I was actually looking forward to be playing some games on it this weekend, but I was letdown. I'll get back to it eventually though.

Honestly If this was an actual Atari comeback in that if it was a love letter to classic Atari era gaming with sequels to Atari games such as Yars Revenge and Centipede but in the style of geometry wars and other new titles in the classic Arcade fashion I would of been on board 100%.
SNK was doing the same thing in the 2000' in that they were pumping out great 2D fighters and Metal Slug games one after another all the way through the 2000's although the market for those games died in the beginning of that decade and I was in full support of them.

Yeah, they are not doing that, SNK was still pumping prime stuff all the way to 2006. They were still massively popular outside U.S., it is just that the hardware couldn't really do much aftern2004 which to be honest was a solid run.
At this point the Atari era games are best suited for VR honestly Polybius and Battlezone are a testament of that.
Even games from a little later are really good on VR, like Tetris Effect, and Arkanoid like games.

In this video, he takes apart the joysticks and the system. The one thing that impresses him is that the analogue sticks have a better build quality than the PS5 and the XBox Series X sticks, since they are made of metal. Everything else is your typical standard mid-range computer stuff.

Well, apparently it will be in stores in a week or so. That's great news for me, because it will probably be in a discount bin by the end of the year for me to pick up on the cheap!

Update on the Atari Box. It still hangs up and restarts when going into the app store or even opening the profile at times, meaning it's still a piece of shit and it still looks cool though.
