Thanks to all those who have sent me suggestions. It's more fun when there's a bit of variety. This week: Day of the Dead Chosen by: Spirit Bomb, our own undead conductor. Released: 1985 Starring: Lori Cardille Director: George A. Romero Producer: Richard P. Rubinstein Writer: George A. Romero

Love the film except for the ending, which didn't answer any questions and actually just raised a bunch more of them! I'm a huge fan of the Dead trilogy by Mr. Romero, and while I do consider Day the weakest (by far) in terms of storytelling, it's still a solid film overall.

Weird that you rank it as the weakest Spirit Bomb because I would say it's the best of the trilogy (not by much though). The Tom Savini effects are at its pinnacle in this movie. Also, the bad guy is just that classic action villain douchebag that you love to hate.

The effects are certainly the best in Romero's movies (including the newer ones), but the story/writing and the characters in general are not as great as Night/Dawn. I always rank them as Night=Dawn>Day>Land>Diary. Day was the last good one in my opinion, although Land still had a few fun moments, especially for being a Mario Bros movie reunion (Leguizamo + Hopper ).

I've only ever seen Night of the Living Dead. In fact, I was unaware of the sequels. Oh, the wide world that exists beyond our blinders. Looks like there's a lot more for me to watch!

This movie had Rhodes in it. And Rhodes was cool.

Ah the one trick pony of George Romero. When you find something you're good at, milk it for all you can.

Ah the one trick pony of George Romero. If I basically invented zombies I would do that too.

Agree that the writing isn't as good but Rhodes is awesome and the gore is the best of the series. (Well I haven't seen any past Land, assume that still holds up though)

I just thought of something the other day. The scene where Miguel sacrifices himself by unleashing the zombie horde is eerily similar to the 2011 Zanesville Ohio animal tragedy, where a suicidal man uncaged all of his pet animals (BIG ones) and then immediately thereafter shot himself: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muskingum_County_Animal_Farm Does anyone remember that incident?

Doesn't ring a bell.
