I just thought of something the other day. The scene where Miguel sacrifices himself by unleashing the zombie horde is eerily similar to the 2011 Zanesville Ohio animal tragedy, where a suicidal man uncaged all of his pet animals (BIG ones) and then immediately thereafter shot himself: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muskingum_County_Animal_Farm Does anyone remember that incident? Doesn't ring a bell. Really? It was all over the news. Read that wikipedia article. It might jog your memory. (you live in the US, don't you?) |

I'm also sad about it. May he return as a zombie soon.  Very coincidentally, I had rewatched Dawn and Day this week, just before his death (my niece had only watched Night and wanted to know about the sequels, so we watched them). These movies are really masterpieces: the teamwork and great chemistry between the characters in Dawn and all the Rhodes scenes, dream sequences and the special effects in Day certainly stand the test of time. Too bad Romero could never do that magic again in his newer movies, but the three classic ones are more than enough to see how much of an horror genius he was. |

Captain Rhodes is my favorite static villain of all time. Even when facing one of the horrifying deaths in all of cinema, he never hesitated for a second and kept his cool. Kudos to the actor too for acting through the stench of rotten meat, organs and blood. He is what made this movie so legendary.
