I don't know how much of an object money is for you, or how much manual labor you want to do on it, but you could get a Kraylix flat pack cab if you want something a bit more authentic. www.kraylixarcade.com/

cobretti Thank you, I looked into those, and I was fascinated by the work he is doing. The problem is that I'm not very good at doing the craft work, which means I would have to pay someone in my area to install the arcade components, such as the Seimitsu lights and the Sanwa parts. Then I will have to pay someone else to do the paint and the finishing on the wood so it looks like the real deal, and after shipment and the monitor it will probably cost a lot. I have some extra spare money right now, but I want to limit myself because it is always good to keep at least 6 months of money expenses in the bank. The Mortal Kombat X Rec Room Masters will have to do. And you are right, the size makes a difference for us that grew up here in the West. The Rec Room Masters stand up cabinet is very wide and I really like the controllers, like you said they do look very slick. Plus it would save me some money.

My panel runs two MC Cthulhu PCBs, which have screw terminals for wires so its solderless (I don't know how to solder). I don't know what goes into hooking up LED parts, but that was never my style. But I totally get not wanting to deal with the hassle of setting it all up. Even in the regular MAME front end, configuring the controls were a pain, and I still would have to go in and set them sometimes in individual games.

cobrettiI feel you. I was trying to setup the Hyperspin on my computer and it took forever so after 3 hours I gave up. Later I find out there are people that sell external hard drives with the Hyperspin already setup and all the games for all the virtual consoles, and it is actually cheap considering you are getting hardware and all that work. I would say it took at least 2 years to someone to set that thing up and map it to the 360 controller.

scipioafricanus, my son, and I all went to visit The Galloping Ghost. It is jam packed with games. The place has just under 700 arcade games on free play for the price of $20 a day. It was well worth it. It took my son and myself over an hour to get through the Street Fighter section. Oddly enough, I think my boy loves Street Fighter 1 more than any other game out there. I think it is because he isn't that great with moves on an arcade stick. scipioafricanus and I played Street Fighter The Movie The Game for good measure, and oddly enough, I didn't hate it. After that, we were stuck in the Nintendo section playing all of the Donkey Kong games and Mario Bros. Next came Millipede and Centipede. From there, we moved on to the beat 'em ups, and we played TMNT and the myriad of Marvel fighters. scipioafricanus disappeared for a couple of hours and finally came back to tell us that he discovered the Truxton 1 & 2 section. Honest to God guys, a week or more is needed to actually discover all the games. This place is outstanding. It is almost a complete city block long, and they are busting at the seams with arcade games. If ANYONE here gets the chance to go, you've got to make a trip to see this place.

I have pics, but they are too big to add to the post. We have infinite space. By the way, cobretti. I didn't end up getting the Rec Room Masters cab because I was lucky to find an original MK9 cab at a Hollywood facility. You were right, it is much more bigger, and heavier, but I'm still happy to have one of the ones they used on the actual presentation of the game.

I recommend Tapatalk, I can upload big images at no cost, but you miss on some html posts because of the format, like polls for example. So it is better to only use it for the uploads.

This 1MB limit sucks. Is there anyway we can upgrade this?
By the way, I want to talk about the arcade more. That place was amazing, so I don't want to derail the conversation.

I don't see any options for it. The only hope is that Free Forums will update tgeir service someday. For now Tapatalk is the only free option within the forum itself, but it won't work for polling, and other html features.

My son and I went to Galloping Ghost again today with my brothers and their kids. We end up beating Turtles in Time together, and I realized that the end of that game sucks. I kept on finding myself glued to the old games, though. Centipede, Millipede, and RoboTron 2084 ate up most of my time. It was really cool to play Primal Rage 2. As I can tell, I think that is the only one in existence right now. We also played some Japanese Sonic game which used a trak ball. It was some sort of isometric 3D game. It was cool to see, but it wasn't much fun. We also had a ton of fun playing a Bonk's Adventure game and Rampage: World Tour. There were many others to choose from, of course, but I don't have the time to name them all. I love that place. I just wish the parking situation was better!

Hey stratogustav (You seem to be the expert on arcades around here.), why is it that every time I play any Neo Geo cabinet and play Samurai Shodown, the controls are the best I have ever used? What is Neo Geo's secret? I remember the first time I played Samurai Shodown, I was so impressed with the joystick, because nothing in the arcade ever reacted like that. Now, whenever I visit Galloping Ghost, I feel the same way, because the cabinets have held up so well after all of these years.
