I was thinking how much I loved this game back in the original black & white Game Boy. So I would really like the series to have a comeback on the Nintendo Switch.
What I want is a half 2D sidescroller, also going from bottom to top, and from top to bottom, Metroidvania platformer style game mixed with a half real-time strategy game in the like of "Herzog Zwei" for the Sega Genesis where your mission is to protect entire villages.
The going up platforming is important because that entails ascending to Elysium while the going down platforming entails descending to Purgatory. It was important then, it remains important now.
I also feel that a really classical sounding relaxing soundtrack would be perfect for the RTS stuff, and a more spiritual "Castlevania" like soundtrack for the platforming side would both really add to the game.
That's like having two games in one. I would also add entire sections of vertical shoot 'em up gameplay like some kind of "KOF Sky Stage", entire sections of horizontal shoot 'em up gameplay like some kind of "Sol Divide", and entire sections of on-rails shooting in the like of "Sin & Punishment".
It would not only add variety to the gameplay, it would also increase the length of the game, and make it a worthwhile experience. I had been dreaming for a multi-genre Kid Icarus like that for quite some time.
Also make Palutena a playable character by unlocking her after you beat the game. Then after you beat it with Palutena you can unlock Dark Pit. I always like that particular approach to keep replayability in games.
And you know what, they may as well add Viridi, Medusa, Hades, Pandora, Poseidon, Thanatos, Hypnos, Zeus, let's make it awesome.
What do you guys think? If you also like Kid Icarus, how would you like it to be?
To me Kid Icarus is one of those beloved classic NES IPs on par with Mega Man, Contra, Metroid, Castlevania, Double Dragon, Metal Gear, Bionic Commando, Strider, Rush 'n Attack, and Ninja Gaiden that should definitely remain with us.
