I'm rather unfamiliar with Steam, so I figure I'd just ask a few basic questions in hope that you fellows would have some answers for me.
QUESTION #1: Do all of Valve's post-HL2 physical releases only allow you to install the game once? Because I found a used copy of The Orange Box for PC in my brothers room and would love to install it on my PC. That leads me to my second question...
QUESTION #2: I assume an internet connection is required to play any games in my Steam library? Even ones that are single player only (like Skyrim)? I mean, I have to at least log in to play my games, don't I? I've heard that Steam has an offline mode, but I have absolutely no idea how it works.
QUESTION #3: If a computer with Steam games gets wrecked somehow, would I still have access to them when I reactivate the same account on a new computer? Or would I have to re-purchase them?

I think you can install the same game as many times as you want, and unless the game was specifically designed to be played online only I don't think you'll need the Internet, just everything updated and running.
I'm not sure about your third question though. I had been using the same computer since 2015, and it is the only one where I have Steam games, so I haven't really tested it with a different CPU.

Spirit Bomb - 1. I never bought any post-HL2 physical release from Valve, so I'm not sure; I guess you can install it on as many machines as you want, but you'll have to tie all the installs to a single Steam account. I'm just guessing. 2. Online is not needed. I usually leave my Steam in offline mode and it works flawlessly. If you don't have a connection, it will automatically ask if you want to use it offline (you must have previously saved your login and password); if you want to use it offline even with a connection, just go to "Steam -> Go offline" (on the top bar). 3. You can reinstall the games in as many computers as you want; you can even install them in various computers simultaneously - some of my games are installed both in my main pc and in my laptop right now. The only restriction is, if both computers are using Steam online, it won't let you start a game in both of them at the same time (if you leave Steam offline, you can play the same game on various pcs with no problems). This is the main advantage Steam has over, let's say, Nintendo consoles: the games are tied to your account, not your console, so wherever you install Steam and login to your account you can install all your games.

Cervantes I hate to badger you with all these questions, but this leads me to ask another one: as I have made 2 Steam accounts so far, if I want to access the one not currently installed on my computer would I need to simply uninstall my current Steam account to gain access to the other one? Thanks so much for the helpful info you've provided for me thus far. You're the man.

Spirit Bomb - No problem, mate! About your question, you don't have to uninstall Steam to access your other account. You just need to login to it with your other name/password, as you would do with an e-mail account or something. The games from one account won't show on your second account's library, so, to not have to keep alternating accounts, it's better to buy all your games with the same account. But no need to uninstall/reinstall anything.

I'm not sure I'm actually going to go through with this though, since all the games I bought on my other account are online multiplayer shooters (TF2, CS Source, and HL2 Deathmatch), and considering I can't get a good connection while playing TF2 (my ping is always over 900), what's really the point? I wish I knew why my connection was so atrociously bad...
