I want to play some PC games using my Xbox 360 controller, but I'm not sure how it's done. Can somebody please help me?

So if you have a wireless USB controller, you'll need an adapter, as the wired USB connection is just for charging if you're using a rechargeable battery pack. You'll want one of these: www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR4.TRC1.A0.H0.Xxbox+360+pc+adapte.TRS0&_nkw=xbox+360+pc+adapter&_sacat=0If you're using Windows 10 or 8.1, they're pretty much plug and play. If you're running an older Windows version, the support link winnersdontusedrugs use gave will get you going. If you've got a wired 360 controller, no adapter needed. Most modern games will pick up a 360 controller automatically if they're PC compatible. For older games, I'd suggest a Google search on a game by game basis. Of course, I suggest a google search for most of the tech support questions you ask here

Do you think that will work with a PC? I definitely plan on consulting the manual.

Possibly, but you'd need to use a tool like SCP DS3. I've only tried it with first party PS3 controllers though. Spirit Bomb

Spirit Bomb - It's still possible (probably) to use the controller with tools like the one suggested by winnersdontusedrugs , even if it's not officially supported; the problem is that these tools aren't perfect and some games may not completely work. I tried it once (using a PS3 controller for my pc), but I thought it was more problem than I wanted to deal with, so I just bought a 360 controller anyway, as it works out of the box and every game from the last eight years or so assume you're using it. I have both a wired controller and a wireless one with an adapter: on Windows 10, you don't have to install anything, just plug them (on W7 I had to download the drivers).

So since I only own a wireless 360 controller, I would need to buy an adapter? Hmm, not sure it's worth it, since I would only want to use it for a select few older games like GTA or SW Battlefront anyway, and from what everyone here has said I get the feeling that those older games might not even be compatible with a 360 pad without the use of specialized software. I dunno about this.

Spirit Bomb - Yep, you would need and adapter, and I do agree that it may not be worth it if you only intend to use it with a few older games - I even think Keyboard & Mouse is the better way to play SW Battlefront and GTA anyway.
