It's actually just "Latin", "Latino" or "Latina" are popular because is the Spanish way to say "Latin", but "Latin" is the proper word, just like the classic language of Rome.
"Latino" is the way you refer to the classic Roman language in Spanish, and the people, but in Spanish, not in English.
Any culture that originates from Italy, Spain, or Portugal, are Latin, and those 3 countries as well.
Another word you can use for Spanish speaking countries is "Hispanic".
Often the "Latino" and "Latina" words are actually been taken as serious English, some people even make "official" articles on the Internet, when the mistake was done years ago.
