This reminds me of a YT conversation. Here's the copypasta of it (with
a rich, meaty copypasta sauce):

Seeing those 80s and 90s cartoons, characters were diverse. And in 2015, people bitching and whining about diversity.

+TheNewEmphinix I think it might be a blacklash against perceived political correctness.

+Centipede IKR, look at this cartoon COPS, their leader was African-American, Bravestarr had a Native American hero and Captain Planet had characters from different races, religions and cultures. But people in 2015 can't realize that. smh.

+TheNewEmphinix Ethnic/gender ratios never bothered me. Who cares what a character's colour is? It's a moot point, especially when they're as boss as the COPS commander.

+Centipede Nowadays people have this unhealthy obsession with race, gender and orientation in many ways.

+Derrick Still Not just in shows and cartoons, but in many things in general. For example, Jada Pinkett Smith whining about the Oscars not being diverse enough

+TheNewEmphinix things were done naturaly, now whenever a show is done they worry more about pandering than with the actual show.

There was more Diversity and more tolerance on Tv back then like take a look at the X men original cartoon that show was about tolerance fitting in surrounded by a world that hated them. Now we can't say oh i don't wanna watch the new Ghostbusters because its just not the same. IT doesn't have the same characters or feel as the cartoon and movie. OH WAIT I'm being sexist.

+Cody Cameron So true. Modern day diversity is this - Exclude all straight white males. Homosexualize original characters

Maybe teenagers and young adults had a different upbringing than I did, but I don't get people older than me like Jada Pinkett Smith who say that there isn't enough diversity in entertainment. She starred in a long-running sitcom that was completely about an all-black university. For a good 30 years there's been cartoons and primetime TV and movies and music with a lot of diversity, without bending under pressure to be diverse. Maybe it's worse nowadays, but it's also exasperated by people acting like it's always been terrible

Token diversity. The main heroes, romantic stories, complex back stories, and premier toy marketing still went to white male characters.

Indeed, and what's even sadder and infuriating is that these old cartoons, which were primarily made to sell toys, actually contained and tackled a wide variety of sensitive issues in a relatively straight serious manner, for the times. I mean, even the much derided He-Man & The Masters of the Universe cartoon sported many references to Dungeons & Dragons. But nowadays, thanks to overprotective parents, every theme that could even be considered slightly problematic is handled as a throw away joke devoid of any substance. Then people wonder why today's youth is so immature. :/

+David Curry The main problem I have with the people you describe is that they constantly put the accent on representation without bothering for the actual quality. I couldn't care less about character's gender, sexual orientation, ethnical background, social class, etc. If those traits don't contribute to the story and the overall plot's/presentation's quality is mediocre or devoid of any merit, then no amount of new age diversity will soften my opinion. I think it's about time that we exhume the old tried and true habit of calling a spade a spade, and maybe use it to bust these con artists' heads (in a spiritual sense).

Diversity isn't a "new age" concept, broheim. It doesn't have anything to do with crystal healing or tarot cards. It's about, hey, sometimes a bro would like to see people who look like him as the heroes instead of the villains all the damn time.

Until people bitch because a white chick plays a role in Ghost in the Shell. "New age diversity" is not the same as "diversity is a new age concept". The modern concept of diversity is garbage however as it is based on racism. For instance this is a show about cops made for kids they need to sell the toys, part of that is making them look unique as possible. I can think of nothing more fitting than making difference races because it's a color palette swap. Fisher Price did this with the Castle toys line. Plus it makes it more believable because there are all manner of cops. However the modern concept diversity would want to constantly bring up race as a means of showing how privileged X race is, currently whites, because they can do things others can't instead of letting cops be cops and do awesome shit regardless of their appearance. Kind of like this show did when it made the boss a black guy and never fucking talked about it, much less used it as an excuse to push a political agenda based on bullshit from a dead Russian.
This cartoon did also inspire my opening I'm working on for a channel. "It's Marxism fighting time."

Speaking of modern dems not acknowledging great coloured heroes, gotta love how they promoted Lara Croft over D'arcy Stern despite having the same game mechanics/controls back during their debuts.
Rich British lady = diverse enough. Boat-laden Jamaican immigrant becoming a police officer = not worthy!
I even had a few say she "doesn't count because her partner is a white man." What are Lara's love interests?!?"
these people find anything to undercut and discount any "achievement" for their box ticks I swear.

I still rage at Stern. I really do. But it makes sense when you think of how England fell to the ruinous powers of Marxism first. They would want as many of their "diverse" heroes to be English as possible so people would take to their ideas better having been subjected to them for so long.
