stratogustavMy mistake then I'm sorry, that one went over my head. Well, no worries, it is a fair assumption. A lot of us are Sega, Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, SNK, Taito, Square, Enix, Tecmo, Namco, Technõs (now Arc System Works), Atlus, Ultra, Hudson, Sunsof, etc. fans because those used to be the main stream publishers in terms of classic gaming. So it is easy to have inclination to favorite those developers as they also own most of our beloved IPs. If we are going to go classic classic, then the West was the clear winner. Sure Japan had Ms. Pac-Man, Frogger, Galaga, Dig Dug, Space Invaders, Bosconian, Time Pilot, Scramble, etc.. But the West also had really good stuff like Centipede, Millipede, Star Castle, Defender, Stargate, Breakout, Asteroids, Pong, Gravitar, Missile Command, Moon Patrol, Lunar Lander, Polybius, Frenzy, Berzerk, Robotron 2084, Tempest, Battlezone, Star Wars, Discs Of Tron, Joust, Sinistar, Space Duel, Yar's Revenge, Laser Gates, etc..

Yeah, there were also games like Wizardry and Ultima that went on to inspire JRPGs as a genre. I personally don't like to make it an east vs west thing since I love/hate them both. Despite that, I always seem to see these east vs west arguments on the internet, and there's alot of people out there who unironically think that only japan makes good games with a few exceptions. Maybe I should make the smart choice and limit my videogame-related internet usage to the CGR forums. But the West also had really good stuff like Polybius lol I caught that one at least

lol I caught that one at least Hahaha, I always get caught with Polybius. About those discussions. They can be fun sometimes. A lot of people don't like to get contradicted. It is literally a waste of time because they are basically different genres. With RPGs I always lean with Eastern stuff just because they are iconic, but I don't really play either. So at least I recognize my opinion is basically worthless when it comes to that They both serve their specific purpose. So the discussions are indeed pointless after a while.

It is literally a waste of time because they are basically different genres. With RPGs I always lean with Eastern stuff just because they are iconic when it comes specifically to legacy consoles, while Western stuff was more like a PC thing. However I don't really play either. So at least I recognize my opinion is basically worthless when it comes to that. They both serve their specific purpose. So the discussions are indeed pointless after a while.

I understand. And I still disagree. OK, I hope you mean only with RE7. Because otherwise I would think you still think I mean with all horror games, and that's not what I said. It's not what you said, but it is what you meant. I'm a video game conservative. I like things the way they are - buttons, controllers, TVs and couches. Don't think I don't see what you're trying to do, with your Virtual Reality Machines and flippy floppy pages and your Juggle The Controller Like A Hot Potato nonsense. Sure, it starts out with dumb "games" like Until Dawn. Next thing you know, it's seeping into other horror games and other genres like mold, spreading from slice to slice until the entire loaf of video game bread has been reduced to a green and gray mass of spores and rot. Is that what you want, stratogustav ? Do you want us all to eat moldy video game bread? I'm putting a stop to it. Right here, right now.

Dan E. Kool That is a good theory. However I do believe that no matter how much technology advances we will still be playing games on a couch with a pad and a display 30 years from now because that simply won't get old. On the other hand what I was specifically reffering in one of my replies is how there are already standard options in every shooter for people that play with inverted controls, and that in the same way, there should also be an option for those of us that want to play in lightgun mode. Sure thing, the lifting objects, flipping pages, and opening latches is kind of like a new thing, but when it comes to shooting you can't come and tell me that lightguns are also new. It was how we even played Duck Hunt, so for some of us it is what we consider the old way to play. I personally grew up playing consoles and arcades. As a consequence I didn't had early access to Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, or Duke Nukem. We the console people got those games a little later when they were finally ported to consoles. We heard of them, because they were popular, but didn't play them, and those were played with a mouse anyway. My computer was used for surfing Altavista, Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Access, and Paint. That was it. So my early memories from shooters all come from Time Crisis and Virtua Cop. That's why GoldenEye was so revolutionary for us console people because we never had something quite like that before. We had the Super Scope 6 for the Super Nintendo, and that was it. Obviously it is not going to happen, but if they are nice enough to include inverted controls for people that can't shoot straight without acting like a plane, it would really be nice if they also think of those of us that want a lightgun mode. Sadly we are not too many to really make a difference.
