I think Gamester81 made a video on it a couple of years ago. It even had touch buttons!

That's awesome. It sucks that it didn't have the controllers though. I read that they couldn't get this to the market, because the damn controllers would open up the neighbor's garage. The FCC wouldn't allow it, since it interfered with too much. Atari was ahead of the game, but blue tooth was too far ahead in the future.

I wonder how much of this compares with the 5,200 and what was kept from it. Now I want a Mark review of this thing.

It sucks the 2,800 didn't took off. They probably didn't even know what it was. I remember hearing they sold the 2,800 in United States too, through Sears I think, but I could be wrong.
I wonder why no one bought it. My guess is that probably because the marketing thing with the numbers. Until this day people don't distinguish between the 2,600, the 5,200, or the 7,800. They think an Atari is an Atari.
It reminds of the situation between the Wii and the Wii U. Names do matter after all. Although I have to say Jaguar sounds cool. Even with a cool name I think that was more a thing of a saturated market and exclusive titles.

I've got an Atari 2800 or Sears Video Arcade II as it's also called. It has its own special controllers, 4 controller ports and the switches has lights on them. Really bad ass system for its time.

I couldn't for the life of me find my Atari 2800 controllers. I know I have a couple, but I don't know where. Anyways linked my Atari 2800 plus a link to the controllers. They can be used both as paddle controllers and joysticks, which is pretty wicked. However, I prefer the original controllers as they feel more accurate and you need for of these if you want to play 4 players on Warlords or Video Olympics. I wonder if that Sears version was a European exclusive, because I don't think they were sold here. I know the Atari 2800 was a Japanese exclusive. Do the LED lights all work still? scipioafricanus It does look like a 7800. I wish they kept the LEDs though.

dschult3 they were definitely sold in the US. I think what happened is that the Japanese version came first. They were even sold in Latin America. I remember seeing those controllers more than a few times. It just wasn't a very successful system. I imagine part if it was that they had an exclusive retailer.

I remember the Sears versions, but I never saw that one. The Sears clones were all over the place. Maybe it was sold on the coasts like the NES was at one point?

Maybe the ones I saw were clones, but I remember seeing those controllers, and I'm talking when the SNES was already out and established. Long after they originally came out.
