Found a copy of Code Veronica on Dreamcast today, anybody play it? I've never tried a Resident Evil game, is it worth it? I remember it having really favorable reviews back in the day. Nice find, Code Veronica is one of my favorites in the Resident Evil series, I have it on Dreamcast and PS2 and have also played the GameCube version when a friend had it back in the day. I think it holds up very well still, and compared to the modern over-the-shoulder camera, clunky and awkward controlling and extremely generic dude bro shooters the series became later on and remain to this day (thanks to RE4) I feel it remains one of the strongest titles in the series for sure, and for some pure Resident Evil gameplay but with a more modern look and technical quality I'd say it's on the level of Resident Evil Zero, Outbreak, Outbreak File #2 and Dead Aim, all of which are newer by at least a couple of years, all excellent games too.

Code Veronica is great. It is the only spinoff from that era that actually feels like a main line game. It was later ported to the GameCube as Code Veronica X, and it felt right at home with Resident Evil Zero, and Resident Evil Remake. The Resident Evil franchise has been good all along with the main line titles, except for 5 and 6, that felt like something else. On top of that it has a lot of on-rail shooter spinoffs that if played with a lightgun are also excellent Resident Evil games.

@armored core raven stratogustav do you feel like you need to play the original games before playing Code Veronica or does the story work as a stand alone?

@armored core raven stratogustav do you feel like you need to play the original games before playing Code Veronica or does the story work as a stand alone? You definitely can play it first, just like you can play Zero after 3. The order should be Zero, REmake, RE2make, and then Code Veronica X. But it doesn't matter because connecting stories like a puzzle in the survival horror genre can also add depth to the experience.

You can play CV first, no problem, they do have their own part in the bigger overlaying story but they work on their own as well, and like stratogustav said, they work similar to a puzzle, you play one game to get another piece to add to the whole. I wouldn't say there's any preferred order to play them really, but maybe start with the oldest as best as possible so you can see how the series evolved over time with each new release.

I also want to get CV someday, so it's good to know. Actually, the only reason why I haven't bought the 360 version of CV yet is because I hope they'll release a pc remaster. But then, as the game isn't that famous as far as Resident Evil goes, I should just settle for the 360 version already.

Because of "the varus", the Ekka was cancelled this year, so showbags were being sold in IGA supermarkets. I picked up: Because I'm a sucker for Classic Sonic. Also, I picked up a Eggman figure (smaller than this one), who'll be joining Joan Dark and Conker above my car's dashboard. Cue the Eggman theme.
