How bright is the first DS, or DS Phat, screen compared to a GBA AGS-101? The DS Lite screens are bright, but I recently bought the DS Phat for $2.50 in great condition at a yard sale.

My brother has one, I don't know if it is the original, but it is of blue color, he lost his charger and haven't get to buy another one. So I have not seen it on in a long time. I would be lying if I tell you how bright it really is. All I know is that the Castlevania games are great on that system, and that it has so many games that it would take a fortune to build a decent collection.

I have my 2DS for DS games. Lots of phenomenal GBA games as well. Like Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis. sarcasm

Old DS screen is brighter than the AGS-001 screen, but not as bright as the AGS-101 or the DS Lite.

Old DS screen is brighter than the AGS-001 screen, but not as bright as the AGS-101 or the DS Lite. Thank you very much. It should be just fine for my needs. Also I tried Fire Emblem when I was younger and was too impatient, I will try again perhaps.

The 3DS Fire Emblem games have a 'Casual' mode I'm quite fond of. If a character is defeated, it is out for the battle, but not permanently dead. With the older GBA/DS/NGC Fire Emblems, I find I will restart over and over if anyone dies, dragging the game out immensely. With casual mode, you can afford to take more risks, and the game clips along at what I feel is a better place. For the 3DS entries, I'd recommend Awakening or the more recent Echoes of Valentia as entry points. Fates is enjoyable, but if you want to play through all 3 campaigns, it is a bit of a money sink.

Thanks for the suggestion, more to add to my modded 2DS, so not a money sink.
