So I recently discovered that Windows 10 does not come packaged with video editing software like XP (and possibly others?) did. This stinks, because I would very much like to edit footage that I've captured or uploaded onto my computer. I'm rather short on cash right now and am hoping that there is a free video editing software out there on the web. Does anyone know of any free ones? Preferably that would work on Windows 10?
Also, can I get a like for having the most amount of threads in the PC sub-forum? :'3 I mean, that's quite an achievement.

Yep, you can have my like! - And my sword! - And my axe! About the question, one of my friends that works with simple video stuff uses "Lightworks". Here's a review.I don't understand a thing about video editing, so I don't know if it's good or not. |

Unfortunately the best I could recommend is using Kdenlive in Linux through a virtual OS.

I've used Movie Maker once for a college presentation, but that's it. Video editing is not my cup of tea.

Isn't there a downloadable Windows Movie Maker for newer versions of Windows?
I know there is one for Windows 7, but I couldn't use it as it needed a more powerful computer to run, so I had to install the old XP Movie Maker, which kinda works but is a bit glitchy.

There is nothing free worthwhile and you can't even buy the best stuff. They do monthly subscriptions instead.
This is why I don't do video editing. Those no buying models upset me. Otherwise video editing is one of the most fun things I have come across.

I looked it up and seems the one I tried to get to work a few years ago was the version that was part of the Windows Essentials 2012 pack, but they discontinued the entire pack in january earlier this year. Windows nowadays is the polar opposite of what it used to be, it sucks, it's hard to use and nothing works on it, it's almost as bad as Linux or MacOS at this point. |

W10 doesn't allow stuff like SecuROM install themselves to the system like they did in previous Windows versions. As these programs created vulnerabilities and messed with your system, I don't think it's entirely bad that W10 doesn't allow them to work. The truth is: to fully appreciate retrocompatibility on pc, you either have to go for digital copies on GOG/Steam etc. (which are usually patched) or, to use the original discs, you will have to rely on fanmade patches. It may suck having to look for them but at least they usually come with other improvements, like opening up support for higher resolutions, widescreen support, higher framerates, bugfixes etc. Some fanmade patches are awesome. |

From what I've heard, yes for GOG, not so much for Steam. Usually with Steam releases they state if there's an effort to improve the compatibility, otherwise your mileage may vary. Like with Knights of the Old Republic, one of the most highly acclaimed games of all time. Steam version barely runs on most modern PCs and unlike most classic games that have trouble running, it doesn't have bad reviews so you have to use due diligence. |
