Interesting. But a projector should be unaffected, right? Projectors are the worst of the bunch. I once tried to play 4 player splitscreen on MW2 at a friend's house. It was miserable. I'd rather play 4 player splitscreen on a 32" TV, and we actually ended up doing that.

You shouldn't worry with input lag, monitors have no problem with it - it's a problem only in tvs and only the bigger ones (at least over 40", I guess), and even then most of them have a pc or gaming mode that reduces or give you no lag. Hmmm, not sure what to think, because my 21" LCD TV (manufactured around '08 or so) has significant lag even on gaming mode. Not sure why this is. By comparison, my current 4:3 computer monitor was probably made in '05 or earlier and it has virtually no lag with the correct settings applied.

That's because it's probably a TN monitor with no image enhancements. TVs have a lot of them, but you turn some of them off in game mode, sometimes this isn't enough to bring down the lag.

Do you think this TV is laggy because of old, outdated technology? I'm not sure how it would compare to a modern LCD TV of the same size. Or do you think it might just be of low quality?

Perhaps, but newer TVs suffer from input lag too.

UPDATE: So I received my monitor today and just tested it, and there were no significant lag issues. The response time felt about the same as my old monitor.
