The price isn't cool, though. I just hope that maybe...JUST MAYBE...original developers will start to look at the retro movement and re-release games that people desperately want to get for their original systems.

So what should be the price for tech that has been produced in decades?

So what should be the price for tech that has been produced in decades? 10 cent eprom $2 recycled John Maddening 97 SNES board 15 cents plastic casing (30 cents for the rare glow in the dark version) 1 cent label 5 cents Foxconn employee soldering for 2 hours Bison personally giving his grin of approval on each game...priceless

So what should be the price for tech that has been produced in decades? Watermelon Games (Magical Game Factory) has brand new Genesis carts manufactured. They sell their (self developed) games for the regular $60. And people still complained.

Why? Is it because of the price? Then I agree with you. But I think it would be pretty cool to see new cartridges produced by the original companies. I hate the prices of classic games these days.

lol'd at 100 dollars
it isn't even the best SNES version of the game
and why no Mega Drive version at all?
I can kind of understand no PC Engine version, but wow, this reeks of quick lazy cash grab ever more than the NES and SNES minis

No, I think the price is ok, actually. Problem is that this is another release of an early console port of a game that is neither the best nor the most recent in a long running series. It is definitely just a collector's item, in a way that is somewhat detached from the main purpose of a regular game cartridge.

Nintendo is releasing a new version of the Super Nintendo this month, but it does not play cartridges, the 3DS had many iterations, so I do not see why the Super Nintendo should not have may as well, if this sell ridiculously well in an ideal world Capcom and Nintendo, maybe even Square Enix would start releasing more copies of their games and we would get a new official Super Nintendo console that play cartridges as well.
Of course Konami is out of the picture now, but if only this was not the case, we would be in paradise.
However knowing how they think, this will not happen, most likely this new Street Fighter II cartridge will get sold out, and all they will accomplish is more ingrained status in general culture, which is all they want with these limited edition retro stuff, just like Nintendo with the NES Classic.
I wish they did not think in terms of the big picture and that they would only think in terms of the present moment so we all fans would get what we want without any shortage. Sadly they are always thinking in terms of the future and I get it, that is why these companies last so long and become so ancient, but give us a break once in while, let us enjoy the goodies for real.
About the price, that is how much Street Fighter II was in the 90s, at least in Central America, so in terms of inflation this is actually cheaper.

maybe even Square Enix would start releasing more copies of their games Bingo. That is what I want. Too many of their games are overpriced, because no one is willing to part with them. I also want an official release of Seiken Densetsu 3. That game looked beautiful, yet they didn't release it here. What a shame....

They don't want your money, so you might as well patch a Japanese rom with a fan translation and run it on a SD2Snes or everdrive.
