Kind of a stupid question, but I'd really like to know if my computer has built in wifi. I mean, my dad's old IMac does. Shouldn't most PCs come packaged with Wifi?
EDIT: I'll just google this question, there's no reason to make a thread asking a simple question this.

If it can access the internet without an ethernet cable, there's a good chance your computer has Wi-Fi.

If you guys want to keep summoning me, I want one of those 10 minutes summon animations from Final Fantasy.
Edit: I'll accept any of these:

Cervantes So it turns out my computer does not have built-in wifi. What should I look for if I want to go wireless (my house already has full wifi support)? Is your connection wireless or do you use an ethernet cable? Any help would be nice. PS you are officially summoned. By me.

Wow, this new summon animation really takes some time, doesn't it? Desktops usually don't have native wi-fi capabilities. And, actually, I would recommend that, if you have anyway to plug a cable directly to it, you should do that - wi-fi introduces a very small latency over cable (for online games, I suppose, it may make some difference). Anyway, the easiest way is buying an USB wifi adapter. You just plug it in your computer and that's pretty much it. I've just found this list, and it shows both cheaper ones (US$ 13-15) and some more expensive options (87-89) with links to Amazon.

You're the man, Cervantes . I knew I could count on you. Just a little FYI though, I currently do use an ethernet connection with my computer, but my ping during online gaming usually hovers around 996! I think it might be due to the condition of the cable, but I also wonder if it might have something to do with the fact that I live in a rural area? I've heard that tends to make a difference.

MeleeMonk - You should test another cable, but living in a rural are does make a difference. I only briefly dabbled with more serious online gaming around the 2010s, and I remember various factors could affect your ping - one of them was how far you are from the servers. Even with a very fast internet connection, if you lived too far from the game's servers it's certain that there will be some lag. Though I don't think it should be that high just on account of distance (unless the servers are located in China or something), but I really don't know much about online gaming. Do you play online on any of your consoles?

Wow, this new summon animation really takes some time, doesn't it? That might be a result of your poor internet connection. I recommend a wired connection whenever possible as wireless connections are prone to excessive latency in data movements.

I just found this today: Seems legit. Quick question though: where's the "start" key located on the keyboard? (the combo start+R is required to bring up some window, which is why I ask) Cervantes do you know? Does anyone know?

Haven't seen the video (and I know nothing about routers anyway), but "start" means the windows key.
By the way, coincidentally (as we are talking about pc problems) my hardrive died this week - it was an older one, came from my previous pc -, so that's why I wasn't posting much around here: had to buy a new one, install it, install windows. Luckily, I always keep backups, so I didn't lost anything.
