Are GC games on Virtual Console yet?

Those here who own a Switch already can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the Virtual Console isn't online yet, afaik. The VC will go live at the end of the year when Nintendo's whole online service is rolled out for realsies.

Who knows if they will any time soon, I guess they are kind of doing a little bit of what PlayStation did this generation, the whole Greatness Awaitss, nothing was really happening but they always had some big title to announce.

Although the Switch is already everything I need right now, I became really excited for the Arcade Archive VS Nintendo Arcade games. That was a huge announcement for me as I always wanted to collect those.

Oh, but it does. Melee is a game I feel everyone should experience. It's what I consider a masterpiece. Think of all the people out there who are dying to try Melee but can't afford a copy because it's too expensive. I really emphasize with them, and I want to help them.

Yeah, I suppose. I'm just hoping they don't alter the gameplay (or other aspects) of the port in any way. Don't fuck it up, Nintendo! 

Melee isn't like their other games to them. Nintendo hates Melee, so much so that they even took down links to the fan mod Project M, which was a Brawl mod based on Melee's gameplay. So I worry that they'll try to streamline the gameplay mechanics like they did to Brawl & Smash 4, to give the game "universal appeal".

Well regardless they definitely hate Melee. Just look at how much they neutered the gameplay mechanics in Brawl and Smash 4, and the fact that Nintendo does not sponsor Melee's competitive scene at all, despite the fact that Melee is unarguably one of the most popular competitive fighting games ever made. This is why even the top Melee players can't make a living off of playing the game competitively.

Not sure, but probably not. I don't think many of their games are even played competitively, aside from the Smash games, with Melee being their most popular title for competitive play. Usually the only types of games that are played competitively are fighting games, FPS games, and real time strategy games, and considering that Nintendo has never developed any multiplayer shooters or real time strategy games, and only developed one fighting game series, it's safe to say that none of their IPs are really suitable for competitive play, outside of speedruns.
