I watched episode 4 the other day, but that one was a bit heavy for me. I'm kind of worried about how tense the season might get considering Scully still has a bunch of relatives alive left... leaon79sI think you can get past those things. Of all parts of Scully's body, the best and most seductive are her shoulder pads.

Watched episode 5 yesterday, and wow Mulder! What the hell was that?! I don't really want to spoil anyone, but it was almost as dumb as episode 3, and I love it. And there was epiphany too.

Oh no! Spider, is this the episode where he tries to communicate with a terrorist by using magic mushrooms?!

I'm up to season 9 in the X-Files now. Season 8 was perfect, in my opinion. It refreshed the series so well by introducing extreme characters. Dogget is extremely skeptic, while Reyes is on par with Mulder in the paranormal belief, i would say she surpassed him. While Scully was simply unsure of her surroundings after a certain something happened. Plus the finale to season 8 was simply one of the most clutching episodes in the entire series. After that i took a break from the show all together, and stumbled upon the wikipedia for the show, and found out that there is another show related to the X-Files othar than the Lone Gunmen. Its called Millennium, and my god is it so good. Millennium is so dark and brooding that its proves to be somewhat of a difficulty to binge watch. There is that air of misery and unsettling aura which surrounds every scene of the show. I'm on episode 3 of season 1, and its really great. Highly recommended for fans of the X-Files.

It's a shame the series was wrapped up so unsatisfactory in the that X-Files episode. But that's Chris Carter's style. I watched it in its original run, but have not seen it since. I might have to track down a DVD set.

The X-Files was huge for me. Still is! Yeah, they did the Lone Gunman dirty, too. That show was also really great. Really balanced out the super serious 8th season.

I used to watch the X-Files back when it started as well on Friday nights, before the move to Sunday. In fact, I remember the night they aired the X-Men and Power Rangers friday night specials as well, because I recorded the two X-Men episodes. Anyhoo... I watched off and on for the first five seasons. It was good, but after the movie, when the show re-located to California, the show sort of lost it's vibe. It seemed to be getting a lot more comedic and lighter. I didn't really stay with it much after that. Wasn't around for when Duchovony left, either... though I put on the 2-hour finale. Wasn't really paying attention to it, though.
The new series seemed to be hit or miss. The Lizard Man episode was genius and a little TOO goofy for it's own good. Then again, Darin Morgan brought us some of the best episodes (Jose Chung's From Outer Space, Clive Bruckman's Final Repose) and that one goofy Millennium episode with the four devils telling stories at the coffee shop (Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me).

I liked the interaction between Mulder and Dogget in season 8, the episode titled Vienen is probably the first episode i've watched of the show almost 10 years ago Shame about the lone gunmen

Vancouver has a dreariness that really added the right vibe to the show. The sun drenched later seasons really lost some of the show's visual flair. We can blame Duchovny for that, since I think he was the one who pushed for the move. When they did that movie, the show's mythology had already fallen off the rails, so I always thought it was a bit weak. I can't see how anyone would have been able to enjoy it had they not been invested in the show. I'm sure I'm in the minority with this opinion, but I thought the second movie was much, much better. The mini series was hit or miss. That lizard man episode was the one that really didn't work for me. The rest were fine, although I really don't think any of them could be considered classics.

I enjoyed the second X-Files film as well. It was a smaller movie than the first and a "monster of the week" type format, and I think a lot of people had been waiting for the mythology to be resolved. But it was in no way a bad film.
I had read that the X-Files was intended to end after 5 seasons and then they were planning to transition into films every couple years, but that because it was so popular, Fox and all the places they licensed the property to required it to continue going.

That is what Duchovny said on the Nerdist podcast. They wanted to transition into films after a while. You can tell that was the plan because the mythology was falling apart by the time they did do a movie. The super soldiers that popped up at the end of the series, Mulder and the Smoking Man's true relationship, Dogget and Reyes existing because Duchovny and Anderson didn't want to do the show anymore, everything else just gave the feeling like they were making shit up as they went.
