Dan E. Kool - I also thought the exhaust port plot was stupid, but I liked enough the characters/tone of the movie to overlook it. In my mind, the ideal sequel would be if Rogue One had completely axed any connections to the previous movies, if it was an entirely new story. And, thinking about it, that was not a hard thing to do, I think they just got afraid that fans had to see some of the previous characters to accept it as Star Wars.
