I'm just saying that miniatyrized consoles are unpractical, and it's stupid that they are making them in few quantities when people want one. And Nintendo isn't the only one doing it. Commodore, Atari and Sega are doing it too (except for the few quantities). It's cool to have one, but when there exist 8 Atari Flashbacks and Nintendo is going the same route; people will end up with a bunch of compilation consoles taking up space. Yeah, your opinion on these consoles has been duly noted. Guess what? I still want one. You might not see a point to these, but I (and others) do. Not everyone wants to hunt down old cartridges or deal with the maintenance of 20+ year old technology. Not everyone wants to download ROMs from sketchy looking websites. Those are some of the people buying these - guys who still love these old games, but don't have the time or just don't care to deal with real hardware or Raspberry Pi emulators. 20, 30 games is plenty for those who just want the classic titles and don't care about "hidden gems." Nothing wrong with that. Obviously nothing will beat original hardware, and I do like finding lesser known games, which is why I play on original hardware. I still want these, though. Not to replace my SNES or Game Boy with, but as a mini version that can plug into any modern TV and just play. It's small enough that you can toss it into a bag and bring to a buddy's place for some old-school gaming. Plus, the things look damn adorable and I dare you to deny it. I really don't understand why some freak out about plugging things into their TVs. Like, Oh no! Something else to plug in?! Don't you have this problem with every console you buy? We've seen your collection, Balder , there's no way all of those systems are always connected. And neither are mine. It's really not a big deal to unplug one and set up the other... That is insane, but you can buy a refurbished Game Boy Color for around $30. I've seen original Game Boys at flea markets for $5. I'm glad I haven't seen any for that price, otherwise I'd have a binder full of Game Boys!

I've been eyeing down this bad boy considering as I can never seem to find a good setup for my non-backlit GBA. Some drawbacks but I'm willing to make the compromise, especially considering the price point.

I think you have confused me with someone else. The Nintendo licensed ones are a notch above the other crap which have sound issues and hit or miss menus. The new one has a great save state/rewind feature where you can seamlessly jump in and out of each game where you left off. Most importantly they display nicely and the boxes are next to identical to the originals. They also take up considerably less space than the original consoles and their cables and plug in using standard HDMI and USB power. I implied they were built properly as they haven't outsourced job of designing them to a third party company (I salute them for that).

Okay Dan E. Kool, I'm glad for you and others who enjoy these. It's great that you're being catered to. (No sarcasm for real). Have you got your hands on a NES Classic? It is really sad for people who actually want them to play, while scalpers are hoarding them.

I really only have myself to blame for not owning the NES Classic yet. There was a store by me that had them a couple months ago. I kept putting it off and of course then they sold out and now I want one even more than I did before. Supply VS Demand and all that. But Nintendo will make more, don't worry. This is their usual shtick. My boy Stossel in 1988:

Haven't they said that they discontinued it? They might have said that a year ago but recently they announced it was coming back Summer 2018 due to popular demand/complaints. It's on Nintendo's official webzone internet world wide web page. I only wish these things incorporated something like the NES remix with romhacks and whatnot. Apparently that stuff is supposed to come out for the Switch virtual console though. Also being able to get one would be nifty.

Yeah, like Bill said, there's more in the pipeline. The SNES Classic will be more plentiful, too. Due to incredible demand for the upcoming Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition system, Nintendo plans to ship the retro-inspired product into 2018. Originally, shipments were announced to cease at the end of this calendar year. In addition, more units of Super NES Classic Edition will ship on its Sept. 29 launch day in the U.S. than were shipped of NES Classic Edition all last year, with subsequent shipments arriving in stores regularly. Fans have shown their unbridled enthusiasm for these Classic Edition systems, so Nintendo is working to put many more of them on store shelves.
