I recently checked my bank accountb alance and I got a little more money than usual. The Vita is still pricey, but are tehre any games worth picking up one for? Or should I fork out for a 3DS instead?

WipEout 2048, Killzone Mercenary and Tearaway are three fantastic exclusives well worth owning a Vita for (WipEout 2048 was recently made available on PS4 as well but the Vita version remains the only portable version), then there are a bunch of multiplatform games that are only available in portable version for Vita like Sly HD Trilogy, Sly 4 Thieves in Time, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (doesn't include Peace Walker, but it's available on PSP and as a separate digital download for Vita anyway), Deception IV Blood Ties, Earth Defense Force 2 Invaders from Planet Space (port of the PS2 game Global Defence Force which was only released in Japan and the PAL region, it also got ported to PSP but was only released in Japan), Ratchet & Clank Collection and Jak & Daxter Collection. Then there's the connectivity to PS3 and PS4 to play many of their games off-screen as well.

Then there's the connectivity to PS3 and PS4 to play many of their games off-screen as well. While there are definitely some good titles made specifically for the Vita, you will find its true value as a portable handheld PS4 - so long as you have a good internet connection. Many non twitch reflex based games (the Telltale adventure games for example) are very convenient on the go with the Vita. You could also use your PC as such a remote screen, but unless you're ready to pack a laptop together with a Dualshock 4 controller wherever you go, I'm betting the Vita will prove much more convenient. One other thing is that you get an extra 2 free games for your online account library every month on PS+ if you have a Vita, many of which are cross-downloadable on the PS4 as well. Of course these benefits are contingent on already owning a PS4 to begin with... But if you do, a Vita will almost certainly add to your PlayStation gaming.
