I have a decent amount of old PC games on disc that I bought. Yes my PC has an optical drive still but in the next 5 years you won't see a PC with an optical drive anymore. All but two of them have I managed to get working on windows 10. Some of these games I like to play you can only get on disc and there's such a huge library of PC games out there you never seem to run out of titles to go back and check out. PC backwards compatibility works great 90% of the time. This is the only gaming platform that does backwards compatibility the way it should be done. Not buying the same games over and over again on your new system and paying whatever Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo want you to pay.
I'll post a picture of all my old PC games on disc when I have time.

Apparently there are no "gens" when it comes to Steam.

Windows 10 is shit for old games. Lots of great physical games don't work on Windows 10, like Far Cry and Black & White. When it comes to playing older games Windows 10 is probably the worst Windows. Wish I had Windows 7.

Windows 7 isn't that extremely much better for game compatibility, it's rare to find an older game that works on 7 without a patch and it's equally rare to find patches that actually work.
Windows XP is still the best way to go for any physical game older than 10 years, 7 is only good for stuff that came within the last ten years and 8/10 are at best marginally okay for the newest stuff only.
For even older games there's DOSbox that makes the oldest stuff work on newer computers well enough, in most cases, but it's still emulation and emulation is never perfect, so it still doesn't beat the real thing.

Actually all the games I have still work on windows 10 so it actually works pretty good. Windows 7 worked great for backwards compatibility. I'd love to get windows xp as a second OS on my computer by partitioning the hard drive and installing a second OS. I just wont go online with it because windows xp is not supported anymore.

Ehh, I sort of figured that Windows 7 wasn't much better than 10. I just wanted to express my contempt for 10's compatibility issues with some of my older games. I do hope that someone makes a Windows XP emulator in the future, if that's even possible. It would sooo freaking useful for me.
