I haven't seen this movie and therefore haven't voted. Your a mod dude, just check to see who voted. Have you really never seen John Carpenter's Halloween? I want to watch them, I know they're great and I've James' reviews of them. It's like Commando, the time to watch them simply hasn't come yet. I've seen the remakes though (not my choice). They were not terrible, but most likely inferior in every way to the originals. And I've seen the 5th one and H2O, both terrible beyond belief. |

Have you really never seen John Carpenter's Halloween? I want to watch them, I know they're great and I've James' reviews of them. It's like Commando, the time to watch them simply hasn't come yet. I've seen the remakes though (not my choice). They were not terrible, but most likely inferior in every way to the originals. And I've seen the 5th one and H2O, both terrible beyond belief. It’s time to make the time to watch Commando (and Halloween I guess) |

I wouldn't want to dissuade Balder from watching the first one, but it doesn't hold up.
As a film it's most noteworthy as the first major motion picture slasher flick. The best part of the first one is discovering what we already now know: Michael Meyers isn't just a loon on the loose. He's an unstoppable monster.
I guess the other great thing is that it doesn't overplay its hand. Most of the film is Meyers stalking his victims.
Friday the 13th 1 and 2 (which, to be fair, came out later) hold up better IMO. Part 3 is some good **** though. |
