I just watched Mark's newest review for the Ultraracer 64 controller. I looks....strangely usable. I consider myself a huge fan of the Nintendo 64, but I have never seen a controller like that. That got me thinking about all of his oddball controller reviews. Where the hell do all of these controllers come from?!?! Are they all from some strange knock off store?
Anyways, what strange controllers have you guys bought in the past? Are any of them worth what you paid for them? Did Mark review any of them, and do you agree with his assessments?

I have these gravity based controllers for the Atari 2600. They are filled with mercury and give an almost analogue effect when moving diagonally. Very weird but very cool. EDIT: Picture wasn't apearing properly so I re-added it.

I tend to stay away from 3rd party controllers. I always have bad luck with them. All things Logitech are just bound to get messed up (broken buttons or thumbsticks). Even a 360 Scuff controller broke after 2 months, and that thing was expensive! Didn't even use that much since I already got a Xbox One at that point.

The N64 controller Mark reviewed actually looked pretty cool. Not sure why you'd need a trigger like that, though. Wasn't the PS2 the first controller with analog buttons?

I picked up a Gamester Pro V Racer at Goodwill for like 3 bucks. It's a weird controller/wheel hybrid for PS1 and PS2 that works surprisingly well. I use it a lot when I play Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit. Not the third game in the series called Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, but the first game in the series which is called Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit. Anyways, Mark did a review on it.

Care to share a picture of them? I'm sure that diagonal affect works really well with Q-Bert, since nothing else seemed to work well.

When I was a kid I was always looking forwards to getting one of these one day whenever I saw it on game magazines I've heard that it's pretty bad (As in power glove bad) yet I've always been curious on just how it plays.

ASCII Sphere 360 for the PS1. Think of the sphere on top of the controller like an analog only you can manipulate it 360 degrees (Twist it, pull it push it, do whatever you want with it) and just like an analog stick it will register how hard you push it and how much force it's applied to it. There's literally only one video review of the damn thing on the whole internet (A least that I've found)

I didn't think I owned any 3rd party controllers but I do vaguely remember an Ascii genesis rapidfire controller that probably got stolen along with my games and system. I remember being perplexed at first that slow motion just meant replicating hitting the start button every half second so I guess I did have one as a second controller.

One controller I've been trying to GET MY HANDS ON (!) ...is Capcom's one-handed SNES controller, which they made for Street Fighter II. CGR Undertow (RIP) did a review of it:

licensedgames - It's like a Power Glove stripped of any cool thing about it! And the PG didn't have many cool things to brag about...
