I loved the arcade games as a kid. This looks like an excellent movie to turn your brain off to. Sometimes, it is the guilty pleasures that keep us going in life...

Mate, if I turn off my brain for every movie like this I'll have a terrible case of braindeath.
I love dumb mobies, but not when it looks like they were shat out by an industrial assembly line. It seems they only picked the Rampage license because it fits the trend that Hollywood is trying to revive and hang on to this time, which is apes: new King Kong, King Kong vs Godzilla, new Planet of the Apes movies and this one.
I always only had fun with Rampage for around 5 minutes anyway, so I'm certainly not the target audience.

CGI has become an incredible tool for filmmakers. They can now create literally anything they imagine. But just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Is this story they're portraying here, with a sign language speaking gorilla turned giant by some radioactive rock, was this like written on the arcade cabinet or in an instruction manual for the home version? Or is it a piece of creative genius on the part of some Hollywood suit? I don't remember Rampage having a story. It's just what the title says, a Rampage. By giant animal monsters. Why fuss it up with a halfassed story? If your goal is to make a dumb movie about mindless destruction, I say commit fully or don't do it at all. Start in the middle of the action, no set-up or explanations, do an hour and a half of well choreographed action, and call it a job well done.

Why are these movies so afraid of going straight to action? Why they need boring origin stories that interest no one? This makes me think of movies like Hardcore Henry or Shoot'Em Up, which start with an action scene and never let it go, with just very few quieter moments between them. Those are dumb movies that aren't just following a manual on "how to write an action movie for the whole family".

I don't think I'll see this one in the theaters, but if I'm told that they eat toilets like the game, then I may watch it On Demand for just that scene.
It really is a shame though. Hollyweird seems to only make three kinds of movies these days: horror films, super hero movies, and movies with The Rock. Why can't video game movies actually kick ass?

Those Castlevania Netflix 4 episodes are great. It is all about Castlevania III. I totally loved it, and it is Western, not Anime at all, which is more impressive, we don't usually see that kind of writing in the West for cartoons. It reminds me of the good writing of series like Batman The Animated Series back in the 90s, except this one has gore and blood as it should because it is Castlevania.

Those 4 episodes do sound awesome. I hope they can keep that kind of quality up in season 2.

Really enjoyed the first episode of Castlevania. I need to find a way to play CVIII soon as I've been missing out.

On a main-note, do I really need to click play on that trailer? The Rock alone signifies an immediate sell-out blockbuster, and not the kind where you rent games and microwavable popcorn.

That was my immediate reaction, too. But now I'm wondering if I'm not just becoming old. This could be a fun movie to get a bunch of friends together and have a few laughs. Sometimes, a lot of times, the bad movies are more fun.
