Ninjas will never get old. They work for everything, movies, games, hentai, you name it. There are records that show the CIA has used real life ninjas to accomplish real life missions.

I donβt know. Sounds like youβre the winner or that trade. Jedi had Ewoks while American Ninja had ninjas. And American Ninja is infinitely rewatchable. American Ninja is about as quintessential of a Cannon movie you could get if it didnβt have Chuck Norris or Charles Bronson. Gonzo action. Ninjas. A healthy body count. It had it all. Great, great movie. A solid 5. For once I have to agree with leaon79s . He was definitely the loser here. You can't tell me this is better than the original version of RotJ. Between this and the vomit thread, I'm really starting to wonder about these people.

Michael Dudikoff is the original Ryan Gosling. Watch Drive. Compare Gosling's mannerisms, his stoic acting to Dudikoff's. Now ask yourself why Gosling is an outstanding actor while Dudikoff is remembered as a bad one. Now, who really shines in this movie is Steve James. James can fight. It's even more clear in the sequel, when he got more screen time (the sequel is sadly not as good, but the fight scenes near the end are fun). leaon79s - No need to keep the mask when you'll kill everyone who sees your face anyway! You are so right.

Enjoyable movie, watched it earlier this year for the first time in like 15 years. I like over the top ninja movies and also enjoy Return of the Ninja, etc.

I've read on IMDB that the body count is 114. That seems about right.
My favourite parts are when the ninjas invade the military base at night and when Dudikoff blocks their arrows, casually breaking one of them while staring at the other guy:

Found this thing on dailymotion for anyone who wants to watch this thing: www.dailymotion.com/video/x1rvuch"How can someone not enjoy this and have a hell of time? It ridiculous, over the top and it does not make a lot of sense, but does it need to when it is this fun? I am not sure there was a story in this, but if there was it was not memorable. What was memorable was how fun it was and how it basically used every ninja trope in the book. This is what I signed up for when I sat down to watch it. It is a movie called American Ninja with a an army dude fighting a ninja in front of the American flag on the poster. It does not get more rad than that. Mindless fun, the CGR kind." 3.5/5
